Job Summary We are looking for a talented Senior Data Scientist - RWE to lead the development of real-world evidence (RWE) through cutting-edge analysis and creative methodologies. As a key member of our Scientific Enterprises team, you will be responsible for directing sophisticated data analysis to address critical business questions and drive informed decision-making. This role reports to the Chief, Clinical Information Science, and offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on our organization. Key Responsibilities Mine and Analyze Data: Extract, normalize, and analyze large datasets from various sources, including in-house data repositories and licensed platforms, to deliver actionable insights and shape investigation strategies. Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with the Walgreens Clinical Trials team to deliver meaningful insights from real-world data, clinical trials, and other sources to support biopharmaceutical RWE and clinical trial submissions. Data Management: Clean, transform, and store data in an integrated data lake for future analysis and broader team utilization. Advanced Analytics: Perform data mining and statistical analysis to identify new insights related to patient populations and treatment outcomes. Study Design and Execution: Collaborate on the design and execution of outcomes research studies. Quality and Interpretability: Ensure high-quality, comprehensive, and promptly interpretable results from RWE reviews and investigations. Data Visualization: Develop dashboards, analyses, and reports for internal and external use. Vendor Management: Conduct due diligence on new real-world data suppliers and drive RWD quality assessments to inform business decisions. Essential Qualifications Bachelor's Degree: In a relevant field, such as epidemiology, biostatistics, computer science, or mathematics. Experience: Proven experience in designing and executing robust and reproducible statistical analyses in the context of epidemiology and observational research with healthcare data. Statistical Knowledge: Familiarity with common statistical testing methods, including generalized linear models, clustering and separation, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time series analysis, and survival analysis. Data Handling: Experience handling large datasets from diverse sources. Patient Health Information: Experience handling protected patient health information. BI Tools: Knowledge of at least one of the following: Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, or other business intelligence tools. Preferred Qualifications Advanced Degree: PhD or graduate degree in statistics/biostatistics, computer science, mathematics, systems engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field. EMR/Health IT: Expertise in EMR/Health IT, disease registries, and insurance claims databases. Clinical Data Standards: Proficiency in clinical data standards, clinical terminologies, and controlled vocabularies used in healthcare data and ontologies (ICD9/10/ReadCode). GCP and Regulatory Compliance: Experience with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory compliance guidelines for real-world evidence studies or clinical trials (e.g., ISO, MDD/MDR, CFR). Alternative Data Sources: Experience working with alternative data sources and methods for clinical data collection, particularly those enabled by technology platforms and solutions. Advanced Analytical Techniques: Experience with experimental design, Bayesian modeling, sequential data, and computational statistics.
