Senior SAP Finance / Funds Management / Project Systems (PS) Specialist

Overview GDC IT Solutions is currently seeking a Senior SAP Finance / Funds Management / Project Systems (PS) Specialist to support a primarily remote engagement with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC). While this role is largely virtual, candidates must be located within the Continental United States and be available to report onsite to PTC facilities in Middletown, PA during key phases of the SMART project. As a Senior SAP Finance / Funds Management / Project Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for providing expert-level support across current ECC 6.0 systems and future S/4HANA environments, serving as a key liaison between IT, system integrators, and business finance teams. You will support system configuration, process design, testing, data readiness, reporting, and the implementation of new or enhanced financial and project systems capabilities as part of the SMART modernization initiative. This role requires deep SAP functional expertise, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to guide the organization through significant financial systems transformation. Responsibilities • Serve as the subject matter expert for Finance, Funds Management, and Project Systems processes for current ECC 6.0 systems and for the implementation of new S/4HANA-based financial enterprise solutions as part of the SMART project. • Partner with system integrators, internal IT, and business finance teams to lead configuration, development, testing, and other required support activities. • Serve as the IT point of contact and SME for Finance, Funds Management, and Project Systems activities, ensuring proper integration with SAP modules and related PTC systems. • Quickly learn and understand PTC’s current As-Is processes to support mapping and transition to To-Be processes. • Support the implementation and adoption of new or enhanced SAP financial and project system processes, workflows, and reporting capabilities. • Develop, document, and maintain Finance, Funds Management, and Project Systems processes within ECC and S/4HANA environments. • Support data profiling, cleansing, reconciliation, testing, and validation of master and transactional data. • Ensure all system modifications and upgrades are fully tested and properly documented. • Partner across teams to support reporting and analysis of financial and project systems data. • Assist in identifying and delivering training needs, including user onboarding, system functionality, and new process education. • Support troubleshooting and issue resolution in ECC and provide cutover and post–go-live support during S/4HANA deployment. • Promote best practices in system change management and business process documentation. Minimum Qualifications • At least 10 years of experience configuring and supporting SAP ECC 6.0 and S/4HANA Finance, Funds Management, and Project Systems. • At least 2 S/4HANA Finance, Funds Management, and Project Systems implementation project experiences. • Extensive knowledge and experience with SAP Finance and Controlling components with strong end-to-end business process understanding. • Deep experience working with SAP Project Systems components across both ECC and S/4HANA environments. • Experience with month-end and year-end financial processing in SAP ECC and S/4HANA. • Experience participating in process discovery and design workshops to deliver SAP Finance, Funds Management, and Project Systems solutions. • Thorough understanding of end-to-end business, data, and transaction processes. • Experience developing, reviewing, and editing functional and technical design documents, testing documents, and training materials. • Understanding of financial procedures, policies, and regulations for public agencies. • Experience with real-time and batch integrations between SAP ECC 6.0, S/4HANA, and other external systems and vendors. • Experience with background job processing in SAP ECC and S/4HANA for finance-related operations. • Experience handling payment postings for ACH, check, digital, and real-time payment processing in SAP. • Experience integrating SAP systems with external systems, banks, and Microsoft Dynamics. • Experience using ServiceNow and Microsoft Azure DevOps (ADO) as a user. • Experience planning and executing migrations from ECC to S/4HANA, including brownfield migrations. • Experience supporting cloud-based S/4HANA environments and transitions from SAP GUI to Fiori. • Bachelor’s degree in business management or information systems. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered • Experience developing and reviewing test scenarios, test cases, scripts, and results, including hands-on testing in ADO. • Certifications in S/4HANA Finance, Funds Management, and Project Systems are strongly preferred.
