As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be an expert in the designing group that supports the product. You will help create and acquire an understanding of the application design, distilling abstract architecture into tangible plans and influencing implementation. Key Responsibilities Utilize your technical expertise to apply and maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies within specific areas of the technology space. Evaluate new technologies and participate in decision-making, considering factors such as suitability within Target's technical climate, effectiveness, and cost of ownership. Lead and execute research and proof-of-concept activities for new technologies. Manage comprehensive products, financials, and forecasting. Lead design, lifecycle management, and total cost of ownership. Conduct code reviews, design audits, testing, and troubleshooting activities at the application level. Lead functional design and architecture discussions with an understanding of interaction flows and system diagrams to enable design decisions. Participate in routine and non-routine development, automation, and deployment activities, ensuring efficient execution with structural and functional requirements and best practices met. Provide technical oversight and mentor others to resolve complex and critical technical issues. Lead disaster recovery activities and contribute to disaster recovery planning. Embed data quality protocols throughout data acquisition, processing, storage, and operational use. Essential and Preferred Qualifications To succeed in this role, you will need: A long-term degree or comparable experience. 4+ years of programming development experience. Working knowledge of package-specific design and configuration, along with the ability to build custom solutions. Plans new testing strategies and resolves routine and non-routine technical issues with minimal support. Demonstrates strong proficiency in core development stages within own space. Conveys lightweight ideas to partners within the product team. Writes and organizes code using various scripts, including distributed programming, and understands various systems and paradigms. Delivers high-performance, scalable, repeatable, and secure expectations with wide impact (high throughput and low latency). Influences and applies data standards, policies, and procedures. Maintains technical knowledge of subject matters. Stays current with new and evolving technologies through formal training and self-directed education.
