Position Summary: We are currently seeking a Senior/Lead Structural Engineer for our Tampa, Florida office. This is a vacant position for which we are actively recruiting. Essential Job Functions: • Supervising groups of professionals and non-professionals or small groups of specialized engineers in the Power sector to execute both large and small projects • Liaise with other discipline leads, project managers, vendors, contractors, and clients to facilitate smooth flow of information for use in preparing preliminary and detailed design and provide design clarifications and solutions during construction. • Committing to and maintaining project timelines • The ability to document and track project tasks and related design documents is required (strong organizational skills) • Preparation and/or verification of design drawings and calculations • Preparation and/or verification of procurement activities and deliverables • Prepare purchase requisition, review technical content of supplier bids and technical submissions • Perform any required inspections as necessary for procurement of material. • Monitor project schedule and budgets within your area of responsibility and report status on a regular basis Required Qualifications: • 10+ years experience in structural engineering, specifically in structural steel and foundation design for high voltage substations, transmission lines, industrial, power generation, industrial buildings, and other utility projects. • Must possess a Bachelors’ Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering and be licensed to practice as a professional engineer in California (USA). • Experience with transmission station structures and overhead transmission lines with operating voltages not less than 115 kV • Previous experience in the design of heavy industrial structures (steel, concrete, wood, masonry), preferably in the power industry, and Consulting Engineering experience is desirable • Must have strong computer skills (familiarity with AutoCAD, MS Office, MathCAD, Structural Analysis Software such as STAAD, SFrame, RISA, LPILE and/or transmission line design software PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole & Tower, SAGSEC and CAISSON etc...) • Experience in business development and civil design would be an asset. • Strong leadership, communication, report writing, organization, analytical and interpersonal skills are required. Candidate must effectively work as part of the multidiscipline design team and provide leadership and guidance to the team. • Must be able to work independently and with others on multiple projects. • Strong attention to detail and accuracy Physical Requirements: • Ability to sit or stand as required and remain in a stationary position for at least 50% of the workday. • Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, including continuous operation of a computer and other standard office equipment such as calculators, copiers, and printers. Work Environment / Environmental Factors: • The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting. • Periodic travel may be required and could involve limited exposure to extreme temperatures. Travel may include air travel, during which the employee may be required to remain seated for extended periods. The salary range for this position is $140,000 to $190,000. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
