Learn more at realmtax.com Position Summary We’re seeking a Senior Tax Preparer / Senior Tax Accountant to prepare and review business and individual returns, support tax planning/projections, and mentor junior staff as needed. You’ll work directly with leadership, own meaningful client work, and grow into increased review and advisory responsibility. Busy season hours: typically around 40 hours/week, with occasional 50+ hours near deadlines. Off-season is materially lighter than traditional firms. What You’ll Do • Prepare and/or review complex returns, including: • 1120, 1120-S , 1065 , 1040 with multiple K-1s as well as 1041, 990 • Produce reviewer-ready workpapers: Trial balance mapping, reconciliations, retained earnings roll-forward, basis tie-outs • Communicate with clients and internal team to resolve open items efficiently • Support tax planning and projections: Compensation planning, CA PTE considerations, entity-level planning, estimates/withholding strategy • Provide guidance to junior staff and help maintain quality standards • Manage deadlines without constant oversight; communicate clearly by email/phone/meetings What We’re Looking For (Must-Haves) • 5+ years recent public accounting tax experience (or equivalent) • Strong experience preparing 1120-S and 1065 returns • Confident handling 1040s with multiple K-1s • Solid workpaper discipline (clean documentation, reconciliations, tie-outs) • Ability to work independently and make reasonable judgment calls • Strong communication and collaborative mindset Nice-to-Haves (Stand Out) • Experience with: California and multi-state matters (including PTE) • Real estate, rentals, depreciation and fixed assets • Tax planning/projections • Reviewing returns and training staff • Proficiency with Lacerte, QuickBooks Online (QBO), and/or Canopy Credentials CPA or EA preferred. If not currently CPA/EA, you must be willing to obtain EA within ~6 months (study materials provided). What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days) • Independently prepare/review assigned 1120S/1065/1040 work with minimal rework • Deliver consistently clean, reviewer-ready workpapers • Proactively spot and resolve issues (basis, retained earnings, missing K-1 statements) • Communicate clearly with clients and team; keep work moving without churn Schedule Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm but flexible for those that need modified hours Occasional extended hours during peak seasons, including some weekends as needed How to Apply Apply on Indeed and include: • Resume • A brief note (2–3 sentences) describing your experience with 1120S/1065 and the types of clients you’ve supported If you’re a motivated tax professional looking to lead, grow, and make an impact, we’d love to hear from you.
