Senior Technical Product Manager – Cloud Infrastructure & Data Center Power Systems (Remote – Amazon Business Units)

Remote, USA Full-time
About the Company and the Opportunity At Amazon, the world’s most customer‑obsessed company, innovation is woven into every layer of the organization—from retail platforms that serve millions of shoppers daily to the cutting‑edge infrastructure that powers our global cloud services. Our Data Center and Cloud Infrastructure teams design, build, and operate the massive, highly reliable computing environments that enable Amazon Web Services (AWS) to deliver rapid, scalable, and secure solutions to businesses worldwide. As a Senior Technical Product Manager focusing on data‑center power systems, you will be at the nexus of engineering, operations, and business strategy. This remote position gives you the flexibility to collaborate with world‑class talent across the globe while driving the creation and deployment of next‑generation power architectures that keep Amazon’s massive server farms humming efficiently, safely, and sustainably. We are looking for visionary product leaders who thrive in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments and who can translate complex technical requirements into clear, market‑defining product strategies. If you are passionate about shaping the future of cloud infrastructure, love solving problems that have a tangible impact on millions of customers, and enjoy working with cross‑functional teams, this role is for you. Why This Role Matters The data‑center power ecosystem is the lifeblood of any cloud provider. Managing power distribution, improving energy efficiency, and ensuring reliability are critical to maintaining the performance and cost‑effectiveness of AWS services. As the Senior Technical Product Manager – Power Systems , you will own the end‑to‑end product lifecycle for core power infrastructure components, from concept through large‑scale deployment and ongoing optimization. Your work will directly influence Amazon’s ability to meet the ever‑growing demand for cloud capacity while reducing environmental impact and operational cost. Key Impact Areas Strategic Vision: Define a compelling, multi‑year product roadmap that aligns with Amazon’s long‑term sustainability and reliability goals. Customer Advocacy: Partner with internal Amazon teams—operations, engineering, finance, and sustainability—to capture current and future power needs. Business Cases: Develop data‑driven business cases that justify investment, prioritize features, and articulate ROI for senior leadership. Cross‑Functional Leadership: Lead collaborative efforts across hardware, software, facilities, and supply‑chain teams to deliver high‑impact solutions. Continuous Improvement: Drive iterative enhancements, monitor performance metrics, and champion best‑in‑class practices for power management. Core Responsibilities Product Strategy & Roadmap Partner with senior stakeholders to understand strategic objectives and translate them into a detailed, actionable product roadmap for data‑center power solutions. Identify emerging trends, regulatory requirements, and sustainability initiatives that shape product direction. Prioritize feature sets based on business value, customer impact, technical feasibility, and risk analysis. Customer & Market Insight Engage with internal Amazon “customers” (e.g., site operations, network teams, AWS service owners) to gather deep technical requirements and pain points. Conduct market research, benchmark competitor offerings, and assess industry best practices to inform product decisions. Maintain a living repository of customer insights, use cases, and feedback loops that guide product refinement. Business Case Development & Financial Stewardship Develop comprehensive business cases that quantify total cost of ownership, projected savings, and revenue impact. Work closely with finance and procurement to secure budgets, track expenditures, and ensure fiscal responsibility throughout the product lifecycle. Present strategic proposals to senior leadership, clearly articulating risk, timeline, and expected outcomes. Cross‑Functional Execution & Delivery Lead cross‑disciplinary teams—including hardware engineers, software developers, facilities managers, and supply‑chain professionals—to deliver product features on schedule. Own the end‑to‑end product lifecycle: concept, design, prototyping, validation, large‑scale rollout, and post‑launch optimization. Implement rigorous testing, validation, and compliance processes to meet Amazon’s safety and reliability standards. Continuous Improvement & Metrics Tracking Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for power system efficiency, uptime, and sustainability. Monitor operational data, conduct root‑cause analysis of incidents, and drive corrective actions. Champion a data‑driven culture, leveraging analytics to iterate rapidly and improve product performance over time. Leadership & Stakeholder Management Serve as the primary point of contact for all product‑related inquiries across Amazon’s global operations. Facilitate regular alignment meetings, status updates, and executive briefings to keep stakeholders informed. Mentor junior product managers and foster a collaborative, high‑performance team environment. Essential Qualifications Minimum 5 years of end‑to‑end product delivery experience, preferably within hardware, infrastructure, or large‑scale systems. Demonstrated expertise in managing technical product portfolios that involve power distribution, electrical engineering, or data‑center infrastructure. Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business value propositions for senior leadership. Strong analytical skills with experience building financial models, ROI analyses, and cost‑benefit assessments. Excellent communication and influencing skills—able to engage and align cross‑functional teams across multiple geographies. Experience working in high‑visibility, fast‑paced environments where priorities shift rapidly. Ability to operate independently in a remote setting while maintaining high visibility and accountability. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Business Administration, or a related technical field. Hands‑on experience with data‑center power architectures (e.g., UPS, PDUs, power distribution units, renewable integration). Familiarity with AWS services, cloud infrastructure, or large‑scale computing environments. Certification or deep knowledge of industry standards such as IEC, NEMA, or IEEE power standards. Demonstrated track record of delivering products that achieved measurable improvements in energy efficiency or operational cost reduction. Experience in sustainability initiatives, carbon‑footprint reduction, or green‑energy projects. Previous experience leading remote or globally distributed product teams. Core Skills & Competencies Strategic Thinking: Ability to see the big picture while managing detailed execution plans. Technical Acumen: Solid understanding of electrical systems, power distribution, and data‑center operations. Leadership: Capacity to inspire, guide, and motivate multidisciplinary teams. Business Literacy: Strong grasp of budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Customer Obsession: Commitment to deeply understanding internal stakeholder needs and delivering value. Data‑Driven Decision‑Making: Proficiency with analytics tools and KPI tracking. Adaptability: Comfortable navigating ambiguous situations and making decisions with incomplete data. Collaborate with senior leaders across Amazon, AWS, and external technology partners. Access world‑class training, leadership development programs, and mentorship from seasoned executives. Shape the future of cloud computing by driving innovations that affect millions of customers and enterprises.
