We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Specialized Learning Support (SLS) Paraeducator to join our Special Programs team and contribute to our mission of elevating student success for every student, every day, in every classroom. About the Role As an SLS Paraeducator, you will play a vital role in supporting students with significant needs, providing individualized instruction, and assisting with daily routines. You will work closely with our special education team to ensure that students receive the support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Key Responsibilities Provide support to students with significant needs in general education settings, ensuring their full participation in class activities. Assist students in Specialized Programs by tutoring, adapting work, and monitoring and enforcing social and acceptable behavior. Implement specialized therapy programs and work directly with therapists on physical progress and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Assist special needs students with daily routines, including getting to and from class and bus stops, using toilets, diapering, feeding, medical needs, and personal hygiene. Support behavior plan implementation and utilize CPI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) techniques and safety monitoring. Sanitize, disinfect, and clean the learning environment and general work area of all bodily fluids. Facilitate and encourage speech and language development through the use of alternate communication systems. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Willingness to work with students with significant needs (training opportunities provided). Criminal background check required for hire. Ability to successfully complete a pre-hire, post-offer physical examination. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly preferred: CPR and First Aid certifications. Universal Precautions training within 3 months after entering the position. CPI/Safety Care training certification within 3 months after entering the position. Previous experience working with students with diverse needs. Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other support staff. Patience, empathy, and understanding when working with students with significant needs. Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities. Knowledge of strategies and techniques for supporting students with diverse needs.
