Sr. Data Engineer - NBC Sports Next

About the position The Sr. Data Engineer at NBC Sports Next is responsible for the architecture, design, development, and maintenance of analytical data streams for various projects. This role involves managing data pipelines, data warehousing, and business intelligence environments, while collaborating with users to define requirements and enhance existing solutions. The position also includes mentoring team members and ensuring the integrity of applications within the NBC Sports Next - Golf team. Responsibilities • Design and develop data pipelines, data marts, and schemas to support data warehousing environments and analytical requirements. • Architect and design data warehouses and data marts for reporting and analytics. • Develop T-SQL queries, optimize performance through query tuning, and create indexes. • Implement ETL/ELT processes and monitor data warehouse and data marts. • Support data pipeline development using MS SSIS, Azure Data Factory, PowerShell, Python, and Golang. • Troubleshoot and resolve data issues in production systems. • Communicate with business users and project managers to address business problems and create solutions. • Mentor other Data Engineers and lead project initiatives. • Report weekly to management on project status and issues. • Provide on-call production support. Requirements • 7+ years of data warehousing / OLAP experience. • 7+ years of multidimensional database architecture and design experience. • 5+ years of SQL experience. • 3+ years of Python experience. • 2+ years of PowerShell experience. • 2+ years of Redshift experience. • 2+ years of NoSQL experience. • Experience in team and vendor partner management. • Clear understanding of web development principles and techniques. • Experience with AWS Glue and Airflow. • Experience with API development. • Dimensional database architecture experience. • Formal systems life cycle methodology experience. Nice-to-haves • Cloud Data Warehouse operations experience. • Experience with Tableau, SSRS, big data, and real-time BI. • Experience with data streaming.
