Amazon Lab126 is seeking a Sr. Manager of Environmental Compliance with proven track record of performance to lead the Environmental Compliance (EC) team. Amazon Lab126 develops a diverse range of products, each with its own compliance requirements. This management role is responsible for leading the EC team and ensuring Amazon's products are fully compliant with all relevant global environmental regulations and laws. The Sr. Manager of Environmental Compliance leads a global team of EC Program Managers and owns the execution of product certification and global market access, ensuring timely and successful submission and approval of Amazon's products to worldwide requirements. This position requires excellent people management and leadership skills, as well as excellent process management expertise. You will be adept at writing technical papers and will partner effectively with cross-functional teams to drive operational efficiency within the compliance process. • Recruit, develop talent, and manage the performance of a world-class Environmental Compliance team. • Drive strategic initiatives to establish a compliance center of excellence. • Define and drive process management/improvement metrics and best practices, and implement scalable and innovative operational solutions. • Monitor and analyze developing trends and changes in regulatory compliance laws, rules, and regulations. • Establish an effective product compliance program to prevent and/or resolve product impacts/delays to the customer while minimizing business risk to the organization. • Serve as the technical expert, providing support and advice to all functional teams with respect to product compliance. • Ability to work/communicate effectively with leadership, legal counsel, and public policy in a multi-disciplinary, global environment; comfortable interacting with regulators, outside agencies, industry trade groups/associations, and customers, as required. • Experience implementing robust environmental controls, training, and policies to ensure full compliance throughout a large, geographically diverse organization. • Basic Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering or an equivalent engineering or environmental science discipline • 7+ years of experience in Environmental Compliance, preferably in hardware or consumer electronics • 6+ years of experience managing a team • Exceptional knowledge of global Environmental Compliance Directives, Regulations, and Standards, including: EU RoHS, Packaging, Battery, WEEE and REACH Directives, Prop 65, and Conflict Minerals • Experience communicating with and presenting to senior leadership • Proven ability to communicate and collaborate with suppliers • Preferred Qualifications • Master's or PhD degree in Engineering or Environmental science discipline • Demonstrated examples of leadership and ability to influence • Ability to prioritize effectively to manage multiple, changing priorities • Global trade compliance experience • Ability to solve problems and drive efficiencies and international approval timeline reduction using process and mechanism improvement • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, ability to exercise sound judgment • Excellent collaborative, organizational, and project management skills • Excellent written, verbal, communication, and presentation skills • Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $175,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $302,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
