Position Summary: The Senior Software Developer position will be part of designing, building, deploying, and maintaining products across all aspects of our core data platform products. The role will investigate needs, effectively collaborate with users to develop user-friendly resources, and be a well-rounded resource that contributes to the organization’s success. This is a Remote/Work from Home position reporting to the Sr. Manager of Application Development. What you will do: • Improve scalability, stability, accuracy, speed, and efficiency of existing data systems. • Design, develop, test and deploy new libraries, frameworks or complete systems for core infrastructure, maintaining the highest standards of code quality. • and testing Work with experienced engineers and product owners to identify and build tools to automate many large-scale data management / analysis tasks. • Understanding and implementation of security and data protection policies and practices. • Work on a scrum team • Participate in daily standup meetings and all meetings of the Agile SDLC: planning, estimation, retrospectives, demos, etc. The kind of people we look for: • Versatile people who thrive on variety and challenge • Excited about working in a fast-paced environment • Innate problem solvers who want to grow in a flexible, collaborative culture • Takes initiative, pushes boundaries, motivated to innovate • Talented individuals with a growth mindset who want to use their learning and relationship-building skills • Align with our company core values: Integrity, Accountability, Collaboration, Service and Quality Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science /Information Systems/Engineering/related field, or equivalent experience. • 8+ years of professional Java software development experience. • Hands-on experience with Java 17 and later. • Excellent knowledge of cloud computing technologies and current computing trends. • Experience in mobile development applications for Android and iPhone • Experience developing RESTful Microservices with Spring Boot. • Experience with implementing distributed systems. • Proficiency in Linux. • A high-level understanding of data architecture principles. • Experience debugging and reasoning about production issues. • Experience working with open-source technologies. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation, and problem-solving skills. • Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills, self-directed and able to handle multiple priorities with demanding timeframes. • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a high-quality results-driven, team-oriented environment. • Demonstrated ability to use discretion, make sound decisions, and maintain confidentiality. • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours and travel (up to 5%); will include some overnight travel. • Proficient in MS Office, modern communication tools for virtual teams (i.e., MS Teams, Slack) • Mobile Programming Skills: • Familiar with Android Studio and Gradle • Familiar with Xcode • Have 2+ years Android Programming Experience • Familiar with Kotlin 2.x or later and Java • Knowledge of Jetpack Compose is a plus • Have 2+ years iOS Programming Experience • Familiar with Swift 5.x or later and Objective-C • Knowledge of SwiftUI is a plus • Preferred: • Experience coding in PHP. • Telephony experience. • Experience with multi-threading at scale • Familiarity with Akka is a plus • Familiarity with Chef, Terraform, and Bitbucket pipelines • Kubernetes experience • Kafka experience • Experience with Node.js and React Physical Demands: Employees may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time: • Sitting, standing, and walking (95-100%) • Keyboarding (40-60%) • Viewing computer monitor, tablet and cell phone screen requiring close vision (95-100%) Work Environment: 100% Remote: Work environment is at home. Compensation: $150,000 to $174,000/yr prospectively plus 10% bonus determined by competitive market analysis and internal equity considerations.
