Location Open to U.S. based remote candidates. Candidates based in the Los Angeles area will have the opportunity to work from our beautiful Santa Monica, CA office. Role Summary The Summer Law Clerk will support OneTeam’s Business & Legal Affairs team across a broad range of commercial, licensing, content, marketing, event, and athlete-related matters. This role provides hands-on exposure to real transactions and legal issues in sports, entertainment, and media, with responsibilities spanning contract drafting and review, legal research, deal support, and process improvement. The Summer Law Clerk will work closely with attorneys and business stakeholders to help advance strategic initiatives while developing practical legal skills in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Primary Duties & Responsibilities The Law Clerk will be responsible for: • Drafting, reviewing and assisting in the negotiation of a variety of contracts across the OneTeam business such as: • retail, consumer product, and promotional licenses • sponsorship, brand partnership and athlete relations • content production, broadcast and distribution, digital media, television and online programming • event-related (e.g., venue, hotel, event management, agency, talent) agreements • confidentiality, consent, release agreements and related form agreements • terms of use and privacy policies • Supporting licensing, marketing, gaming/interactive, content, and strategic initiatives by partnering closely with attorneys and business partners to advance deals from intake through execution • Conducting legal research and analysis on issues related to intellectual property, name, image, and likeness (NIL), media, gaming, marketing, privacy, and emerging issues in sports and entertainment • Preparing clear, practical summaries and analyses of agreements • Assisting with diligence, background research, and benchmarking of industry practices, deal terms, and market trends across sports, media, and entertainment • Tracking current litigations, legislation, and regulatory developments impacting OneTeam business, athlete rights, and the broader sports and media ecosystem • Assisting with the maintenance and organization of legal templates, forms, and internal resources, including updates to the forms database • Supporting internal process improvement initiatives, including deal tracking and knowledge management • Performing other duties as assigned What You’ll Gain • Hands-on experience on real matters alongside a lean, high-performing Business and Legal Affairs team, supporting deals and initiatives that directly impact athletes, players associations, and commercial partners • Exposure to a wide range of transactions and business initiatives, including licensing, sponsorship, content, marketing, gaming/interactive, and event-related work, with insight into how legal supports business strategy • Direct mentorship and thoughtful feedback from attorneys who value teaching, collaboration, and professional development, and who view law clerks as meaningful contributors • Experience working in a collaborative, respectful, and high-trust team culture, where strong judgment, communication, integrity, and being a good teammate matter as much as legal skills Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications • Currently enrolled as 1st or 2nd year law student in good academic standing at an ABA-accredited law school • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written • Effective legal research, writing and analytical skills, with sound judgment and attention to detail • Ability to work independently or with a team • Strong critical thinking, interpersonal, and public speaking skills • Adaptability, intellectually curious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment • Strong time management and organizational qualifications, with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines and manage multiple projects • High degree of professionalism, integrity, discretion, and strong personal ethics • Proactive, solution-oriented mindset, with a willingness to take ownership, follow through, and contribute beyond assigned tasks • Strong alignment with OneTeam’s culture: collaborative, humble, hardworking, thoughtful, and committed to doing high-quality work while being a good teammate Compensation Hourly Rate: $25 per hour This position is classified as temporary, full-time, hourly, non-exempt, and thus eligible for overtime pay in accordance with applicable laws. Working Conditions This position primarily involves computer-based work, including extensive use of email, document management systems, legal research platforms, and video conferencing tools. The role requires frequent written and verbal communication with internal teams and external partners. Extended periods of sitting and screen time are expected. The Summer Law Clerk must must be able to work a full-time schedule (approximately 40 hours per week), with specific hours to be agreed upon regardless of physical location, and may be required to work overtime from time to time in accordance with applicable laws. The role requires the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment. This position may be performed remotely or in an office setting (Los Angeles/Santa Monica, CA), depending on organizational needs.
