Surveyor (Digital Services Tech)
Remote (Part-Time, Contract) About the Role: The Client is seeking an experienced Surveyor (Digital Services Tech) to support boundary mapping for environmental projects. This fully remote role focuses on reviewing legal property descriptions found in Notice of Land Use Restriction (NLUR) deed notices and accurately drafting those boundaries using CAD or GIS software. This role is ideal for a surveyor with strong boundary analysis skills who prefers computer-based surveying work rather than fieldwork. All work is completed using the contractor’s own computer, CAD/GIS tools, and software. Key Responsibilities: • Review and interpret legal land descriptions in Notice of Land Use Restriction deed notices. • Digitally draft restricted property boundaries using CAD or GIS platforms. • Produce digital deliverables including shapefiles or CAD files. • Analyze complex legal descriptions and identify inconsistencies or gaps. • Provide clear written explanations when boundaries cannot be accurately mapped. • Recommend cost-effective solutions for unclear legal descriptions. • Work independently, manage deadlines, and ensure accuracy in all submissions. Minimum Qualifications: • Five (5) years of professional surveying experience, including drafting or interpreting legal property descriptions. • Strong proficiency in CAD and/or GIS software. • Access to a personal computer and software capable of producing shapefiles or CAD files. • Strong understanding of surveying methods, boundary analysis, and legal land descriptions. • Ability to read complex deed language and translate it into accurate digital boundary products. • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. • Excellent written communication skills.
