Company: Barton Malow Company Job Location: Southfield, Michigan Position: Sustainability Summer 2026 Internship Req ID: 11726 Position Summary The Sustainability Intern will support the organization's efforts to implement and advance sustainability initiatives. This role is ideal for students passionate about environmental stewardship, climate action, and sustainable business practices. The intern will work closely with the sustainability team to conduct research, analyze data, assist in project management, and engage in outreach activities that drive positive environmental impact. POTENTIAL Responsibilities • Conduct research on sustainability trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements to inform organizational strategy. • Assist in collecting, analyzing, and reporting data related to energy consumption, waste management, and emissions. • Support the planning and execution of sustainability projects, such as recycling programs, energy efficiency campaigns • Help draft reports, presentations, and communications to share sustainability progress with stakeholders. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improving environmental performance. • Participate in meetings, workshops, and training sessions related to sustainability and corporate responsibility. • Engage with employees, students, or community members to promote sustainable behaviors and awareness. Qualifications • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business, Public Policy, or a related field. • Strong interest in environmental issues, sustainability, and climate change. • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills. • Effective written and verbal communication abilities. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with data analysis tools is a plus. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team and remote environment. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Preferred Skills • Experience with sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, CDP, SASB). • Knowledge of environmental regulations and standards. • Project management experience. • Experience with social media or outreach campaigns.
