Systems Engineer-AI/ML Company: Location: Linthicum, Maryland, USA Job Type: Full-Time Shift: Day Telework: None Salary Range: $120,000 to $205,000 per year Job : WOOD-0131 Number of Positions: 1 Overview Join WOOD's AIFirst mission engineering team and help shape the next generation of intelligent systems. As an AI/ML Systems Engineer, you'll design, build, and integrate NLP/ML capabilities and high‑performance data pipelines that turn unstructured artifacts into actionable insight. You'll work in a dynamic system‑of‑systems environment, developing models, automations, and analytic workflows that accelerate how decision makers understand complex information. From extracting meaning out of documents to engineering scalable pipelines and deploying machine learning solutions into production, you'll be at the intersection of data, engineering, and mission innovation. Security Clearance Requirements: This position requires all candidates to be U.S. Citizens and possess an active TS/SCI Security Clearance with a Polygraph. Responsibilities • Engineer solutions across system‑of‑systems, collaborating with government and technical stakeholders to translate CONOPS and high‑level architectures into actionable requirements and designs. • Build document parsing and data processing pipelines for unstructured/semi-structured sources using tools such as Apache Tika and PDFMiner. • Develop and evaluate NLP/ML models (Tensor Flow or PyTorch) in Python/R, delivering qualitative and quantitative analytics with clear data visualizations. • Create and maintain technical documentation (architecture/design docs, interface controls), and support integration & test planning. • Communicate findings and tradeoffs to program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives. Qualifications Required Education & Years of Experience: • Systems Engineer Level 1 • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline with seven (7) years of SE experience in program and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity. • Systems Engineer Level 2 • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline with fourteen (14) years of SE experience in program and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity. • Systems Engineer Level 3 • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline with twenty (20) years of SE experience in program and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity. • Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree. Additional Experience Requirements: • Programming & ML: Proficiency in Python and/or R; hands‑on with Tensor Flow or PyTorch. • Data extraction: Experience using Apache Tika and PDFMiner for unstructured/semi-structured sources. • Systems engineering: Background in requirements analysis, architecture/design, interface definition, and verification methods in a complex SoS context. • Visualization & analysis: Strength in qualitative/quantitative analytics and communicating results through dashboards/visuals.
