Talend ETL/ELT Developer - Data Movement Engineer

Job Description: • We are seeking a Data Movement Engineer - Talend ETL/ELT Engineer to support ongoing modernization of core data platforms. • This position will be available for >90% Remote with periodic travel onsite to New Haven, CT up to 10% at times. Candidates should be located in Eastern Time Zone of the U.S., preferably regional to the New Haven, CT with ease in ability to work onsite as needed. (travel expenses will be paid by company) • This position does not provide visa sponsorship, must be authorized to work in the U.S. • This role involves maintaining current ETL environments, developing new ETL/ELT workflows, and building high-quality data pipelines as we move to cloud-based solutions. • The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in Talend and Informatica, data warehousing, and cloud technologies, as well as experience guiding projects and mentoring peers. Key Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and maintain full lifecycle ETL/ELT processes, including mappings, transformations, scheduling, and testing. • Translate business data movement requirements into robust technical designs. • Build and support ETL workflows using Talend, Informatica (IICS, PowerCenter), and related tools. • Create and maintain data extraction routines and vendor data transmissions. • Develop test plans, perform unit testing, and ensure adherence to data architecture standards. • Conduct design and code reviews and contribute to architectural decisions. • Assess impacts to data warehouse structures and flows from new business or technical requirements. • Optimize ETL jobs for performance, scalability, and reliability. • Diagnose and resolve data quality issues, performance bottlenecks, or data inconsistencies. • Provide production support, root cause analysis, and ongoing ETL performance monitoring. • Lead and mentor junior developers, ensuring code quality and process documentation. • Partner with data architects, analysts, and business teams to deliver integrated data solutions. • Maintain detailed documentation for all ETL processes, data mappings, and schedules. • Participate in on-call rotation or after-hours support as needed. Required Qualifications: • Must be authorized to work in the U.S., this position does not provide visa sponsorship. • Must be located in eastern time zone of U.S. and able to travel onsite to New Haven, CT as needed. • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline. • 5+ years of experience in data warehousing, business intelligence, or data integration. • 3+ years of hands-on SQL development across multiple platforms (e.g., Snowflake, SQL Server, DB2). • Expert-level experience with Talend Open Studio and Talend Management Console. • Strong understanding of Informatica tools (IICS, PowerCenter) and ETL/ELT architecture. • Experience with BODI (Business Objects Data Integrator). • Solid knowledge of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and ETL best practices. • Proficiency with query and job scheduling tools (e.g., AQT, DBeaver, Airflow, Autosys). • Experience supporting production environments and troubleshooting complex data flows. • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and documentation skills. • Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems. • Working knowledge of cloud data platforms and version control (Git). • Excellent communication and time management skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
