A role with Engineering and Technical Design means being on a team of engineers and technical designers who create products that truly embody the intent of Target-owned brands. Here, you’ll partner with our quality and compliance teams to understand performance testing protocols and develop products that meet them. Your work can help identify technical specifications and quality standards like raw materials, fit and function, construction details and dimensions. You’ll leverage collective expertise to suggest improvements to cost of goods, assembly, sustainability and ROI. You’ll also collaborate with vendors to ensure that the brand vision is clearly understood and successfully brought to life with every product we offer. As an Associate Product Engineer, you will use your skills, experience, and talents to support the development of industry leading products used by millions of people every day. This includes monitoring user feedback, vendor product, and industry advances; as well as developing and maintaining technical specifications for owned brand products. Likewise, you’ll focus on quality monitoring and control by maintaining a working knowledge of applicable government regulatory requirements, safety protocols, and Target performance standards for products. You will also identify and communicate recommendations for product improvement and new category growth. Based on trends in product innovation, technology, raw materials, and manufacturing, you’ll support the creation of engineering and technical strategies for product development. In addition, you will research emerging trends in product development and identify white space opportunities for owned brands. You’ll also contribute to the creation, testing, and refinement of prototypes for new product concepts. Core responsibilities of this job are described within this job description. About You: • Four-year degree in Engineering or equivalent experience • 1+ years of related industry experience, preferably in a consumer product development or paper manufacturing • Proficient technical knowledge of product manufacturing desired • Excellent problem solving skills and creative thinking skills • Strong project management skills OWNED BRANDS NO HIRE STATES: This position may be eligible to be virtual based (also known as full-time remote) or could be ‘Flex for your Day’, a hybrid model where the team member has some flexibility to choose how and where they work to maximize their productivity and well-being, based on Target’s needs. Most of Target's HQ team members work ‘Flex for Your Day’ with a blend of virtual work and onsite at a Target HQ location. Team members work with their leader to determine how the role, team, partners and business determines the flexibility. For team members who work virtual based, they enter into a work arrangement that means the team member works full-time from home or a non-Target location, and do not have a workstation at their assigned HQ location, but may travel to a HQ site up to 4 times a year. • *A virtual based work arrangement is strictly prohibited for candidates residing in the following 16 states: AL, AR, DE, FL, IN, IA, LA, MD, MS, MO, NC, OK, PA, SC, TN, VA. If you are hired and are working remotely from one of the states listed above you may be subject to corrective action up to and including termination. This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that’s not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target. The salary range is :$52,200.00 USD - $94,000.00 USD.
