Tax Program Technician I
California Franchise Tax Board is seeking a Tax Program Technician I to join their Sample Development Unit. This role involves updating sample databases for special studies and providing technical information related to various tax programs. Responsibilities Perform the necessary functions to efficiently and accurately update the various sample databases needed to prepare special studies and/or reports Provide technical information as issues arise to the analysts regarding specific laws, rules, policies, and regulations relating to various programs administered by the Bureau and Franchise Tax Board Skills Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills Demonstrate excellent time management and dependability especially during critical project time frames Experience using Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) Strong attention to details Experience with state and federal tax forms Experience with data entry Ability to multitask and switch focus between projects Ability to work independently and in a team environment Ability to display professionalism and tact in all situations Self-motivated with a strong work ethic Ability to effectively manage time, multi-task, and produce quality work Knowledge of Franchise Tax Board policies and procedures Experience validating or processing Personal Tax Information (PIT) and Business Entities (BE) returns Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to use good judgment when analyzing data and situations, draw sound conclusions, and take effective action Knowledge of Taxpayer Folder (TPF), Taxpayer Information (Tl), and Business Entities Tax System (BETS) or equivalent systems Company Overview The Franchise Tax Board is responsible for administering two of California's major tax programs: personal income tax and corporation tax.
