The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) is dedicated to efficiently collecting revenue that supports essential public services. The Tax Technician I role involves performing technical duties and support functions related to tax programs, including account maintenance and taxpayer communication. Responsibilities Performing account maintenance Initiating contact with taxpayers Accessing and reviewing taxpayer information Processing lien release invoices Managing incoming and outgoing mail Prioritizing and distributing all correspondence Managing initial case intake and assignment control reviews Skills Under the close supervision of the Business Tax Administrator (BTA) I, the Tax Technician (TT) I performs the less difficult and complex technical duties and support functions for the unit This may include, but is not limited to, applying laws, rules, and policies relating to the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration's (CDTFA) programs Performing account maintenance Initiating contact with taxpayers Accessing and reviewing taxpayer information Processing lien release invoices Managing incoming and outgoing mail, which may include handling sensitive and confidential information, including that from other agencies Prioritizing and distributing all correspondence Managing initial case intake and assignment control reviews Travel may be required for up to five percent (5%) of the time for training purposes Candidate must be able to perform the following essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation This employer participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S Position requires employee to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a background investigation Travel is required five percent (5%) of the time Benefits Reliable income Stable benefits Work-life balance Paid holidays Advancement opportunities Company Overview CDTFA makes life better for Californians by fairly and efficiently collecting the revenue that supports essential public services.
