About the position This is a temporary hire position supporting CORE at the American Red Cross. The role is remote and involves empowering volunteers, supporting disaster cycle services programming, and engaging with communities to prepare for and respond to disasters. The individual will work under limited supervision and apply subject matter knowledge to meet specific needs in disaster services. Responsibilities • Empower Volunteers: Facilitate and support a diverse volunteer team responsible for the implementation of volunteer-led disaster cycle services programming. • Support the Program: Assist with the successful implementation of disaster cycle services program activities and monitor business data to improve services. • Mission Capacity Building: Engage disaster volunteers and support the development of Disaster Leadership Volunteers. • Engage Community: Support local efforts to prepare and mobilize communities and engage partners in disaster response. • Manage in a Matrix: Implement plans to meet targets for volunteer engagement and response. • Know Your Communities: Act as the local point of contact for partners and communities. • Ready to Respond: Participate in disaster response operations and perform responsibilities under 'grey sky' requirements. • May drive vehicle to other locations. Requirements • Bachelor's degree required. • Minimum 3 years of experience with social services or service/program delivery. • Ability to coordinate staff and volunteer activities. • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. • Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills. • Proven record of accomplishment of collaboration with diverse groups. • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office software. • A current valid driver's license and good driving record.
