About the Role The successful candidate will be a specialist in Twentieth-Century African-American History, with a strong record of research and teaching. The Assistant Professor of History and African American Studies will teach a 2:2 load, comprising undergraduate and graduate courses in both departments, and supervise graduate students in History. The tenure-granting department will be History, with teaching duties split between History and African-American Studies. Key Responsibilities Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in History and African-American Studies, developing innovative and inclusive curricula. Supervise graduate students in History, providing guidance on research and thesis development. Conduct original research in Twentieth-Century African-American History, publishing in top-tier academic journals and presenting at conferences. Essential Qualifications To be considered, applicants must: Hold a Ph.D. in History or a related interdisciplinary field by August 2024, or be ABD with expectations of degree completion prior to the start of the appointment.
