Training Specialist (Part Time, Contractor)
About the position The Training Specialist (Part Time, Contractor) at the Ohio Victim Witness Association (OVWA) is responsible for conducting outreach and training related to the rights of co-victims of homicide. This role aims to educate both co-victims and service providers about their rights and available resources, addressing significant gaps identified in a needs assessment. The position involves developing training materials, conducting outreach activities, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance awareness and understanding of victim rights in Ohio. Responsibilities • Conduct outreach to Ohio's courts, prosecutor's offices, victim advocates, and organizations/groups for co-victims of homicide. • Develop and deliver trainings to justice system professionals and co-victims of homicide. • Collaborate with the Program Director and Executive Director to ensure impactful training and outreach activities are met via the grant. • Review training surveys and issue certificates of attendance, as appropriate. • Conduct data synthesis from surveys to improve training and outreach efforts, and suggest future areas of focus for OVWA. • Assist in the collection of data for communication, evaluation, and program reports. • Represent OVWA at meetings, conferences, and events as requested and agreed upon. • Accurately document trainings, attendees, outreach activities, time records, and travel per grant requirements. Requirements • Well-versed in victim's rights and services in Ohio. • Experience working with co-victims of homicide. • Engaging, approachable, and knowledgeable trainer, able to adjust content and delivery to the audience. • Knowledgeable about trauma-informed, culturally-responsive advocacy. • Strong written and oral communication skills. • Capable of collaborating with others but has the drive to work independently. • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manage time, and meet deadlines. • Knowledge of Google docs, Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher), Zoom, Canva, YouTube, and basic data entry. • Reliable transportation, valid Ohio Driver's License, and proof of insurance. • Willingness and ability to travel within Ohio.
