Transportation Planning Manager 14 (Unit Supervisor) - Intermodal Services Unit
OPEN TO CURRENT MDOT EMPLOYEES ONLY This position serves as the Unit Supervisor for the Intermodal Services Unit within the Intermodal Policy Section at the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and functions as a first-line manager of a complex work area. This unit is responsible for the policy development of statewide active transportation (bicycle and pedestrian programs), the intermodal management system, carpool parking lot, planning programs and maintenance of strategic planning and data elements. The position directs staff in determining intermodal transportation needs required by current federal legislation for the State Long Range Transportation Plan (SLRTP), the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) and MDOT's Management Systems. This position is accountable for staff whose responsibilities also include development and implementation of work programs, contact with public and private sector agencies and individuals, development and/or review of recommendations, and preparation of reports and working papers. The "Salary" listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate through the maximum rate of the Transportation Planning Manager 14 position. Education Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major with at least 30 semester (45 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: planning (city, community, environmental, regional, and/or urban), environmental studies and/or sustainability, engineering, statistics, mathematics, geography, geographic/geospatial information systems, logistics and/or supply chain management, or economics. Experience Five years of professional experience in the field of transportation planning equivalent to a Transportation Planner or Transportation Engineer, including three years equivalent to a Transportation Planner P11 or Transportation Engineer P11, two years equivalent to a Transportation Planner 12 or Transportation Engineer 12, or one year equivalent to a Transportation Planning Specialist 13 or Transportation Engineering Specialist 13.
