UPS Technician / Engineer

Position Overview As a UPS Technician / Engineer, you will be on the front line of ensuring critical systems remain online and reliable. You’ll work directly with advanced power systems, performing installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency service. This role combines hands-on technical work with customer interaction, offering a dynamic and rewarding career path. Key Responsibilities • Install, commission, and maintain UPS systems, batteries, and related critical power equipment. • Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and emergency repairs on-site. • Conduct site audits and inspections, identifying potential risks and recommending solutions. • Collaborate with project management and engineering teams on upgrades, retrofits, and new installations. • Maintain accurate service records, reports, and compliance documentation. • Provide technical guidance and support to clients and junior technicians. • Respond to emergency service calls 24/7 as required, ensuring minimal downtime for critical systems. Required Skills • Strong experience with UPS systems (single-phase and three-phase) and associated battery technologies. • Hands-on knowledge of electrical distribution, inverters, and power management systems. • Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems and perform root cause analysis. • Familiarity with generators, transfer switches, and data center power environments is a plus. • Solid understanding of electrical safety standards and regulations (NFPA 70E, OSHA, etc.). • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in high-pressure situations. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for customer interaction and team collaboration. • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to client sites within the region as needed. Nice-to-Have Skills • Experience with power monitoring and management software. • Knowledge of HVAC systems supporting critical environments. • Previous experience in data center or large commercial/industrial facility service. • Certifications in UPS maintenance, electrical systems, or related fields.
