About the Role We are looking for a detail-oriented and dependable Staff Accountant to support the accounting operations of our U.S.-based startup clients. In this remote role, you will be responsible for preparing financial reports, maintaining accurate general ledgers, managing daily accounting tasks, and assisting in month-end closings. Your role will be crucial in helping ensure financial accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with U.S. accounting standards (GAAP). Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, At least 8 working hours between 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM US Central Time (8:00 PM to 7:00 AM PHT) Work Set up: Fully Remote What you’ll do Financial Reporting & Analysis Assist in preparing monthly financial statements (Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash Flow) Perform journal entries, reconciliations, and ensure accuracy in general ledger accounts Process and review accounts payable and receivable transactions Generate accurate financial reports and analyses for review by clients and senior staff Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and variance reports Maintain up-to-date records and ensure documentation supports reported balances Client Support & Ad Hoc Projects Collaborate with Controllers on income/expense projections Complete reviews of your work and support quality checks for team members Address client queries and deliver timely updates as needed Compliance & Documentation Support compliance with U.S. federal, state, and local accounting regulations Help ensure that bookkeeping and tax-related documentation are audit-ready Administrative & Internal Coordination Track time accurately across multiple client accounts Participate in internal training and team meetings Perform other business-related tasks as assigned by management Requirements What You Bring Willingness to work core hours with a 4-hour overlap with Central Standard Time in the U.S. Bachelor's degree in Accounting required. 3+ years of corporate accounting experience. Experience working remotely for a U.S.-based accounting firm. Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and cost control principles. Strong experience in bank reconciliation is a non-negotiable requirement for the role. Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, U.S. GAAP, laws, standards, and state/national regulations. Solid experience with QuickBooks Online (certification a plus). Advanced proficiency with spreadsheet software (MS Excel and Google Sheets). Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to follow through and execute a high volume of nuanced tasks. Ability to work with a strong sense of urgency in a fast-paced setting with a wide variety of tasks. A passion for rapidly changing technology and software solutions that maximize efficiency and deliver firm-wide value. Preferred qualifications: Certified Public Accountant Experience in startups, SaaS, or fast-paced client environments Familiarity with tools such as Expensify, Bill.com, Gusto, Stripe, etc. Experience with platforms like Airtable, Loom, Salesforce, Box, and others Strong bank reconciliation experience Don't meet every single requirement?
