About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Veterinary Pharmacy Technician I to join our team at the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital Pharmacy. As a Veterinary Pharmacy Technician I, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient operation of the pharmacy and delivering high-quality patient care. Key Responsibilities Pharmacy Patient-Related Care: Accurately interpret, fill, and dispense orders and prescriptions Prepare and package medications, pharmaceuticals, prescriptions, and returned goods for shipment Assist in preparing pharmaceutically elegant, sterile, and stable products using scales, balances, hoods, and autoclave Understand and perform all steps involved in the antigen program Pharmacy Operations: Check daily reports, verify sales, check discrepancies, and balance records Maintain, control, and keep accurate records of controlled substances in Cubex Machines, Small Animal Pharmacy, and Large Animal Pharmacy lock boxes Adhere to laws and regulations governing the preparation, dispensing, and compounding of prescription drugs, chemicals, and pharmaceutical products Participate in the annual physical inventory as well as perpetual inventory Assist in the expired drug program and maintain inventory on all pharmacy storage locations Communications and Public Relations: Interact with clients, faculty, staff, students, and administrators to ensure the highest standard of public relations communication Orient veterinary students and assist them in complying with pharmacy policies and procedures and prescription drug laws Equipment Management: Account for equipment checked out for use in clinics Train to be proficient in cleaning and using endoscope equipment and manage Cubex dispensary machines Requirements and Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements: Required Education: Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Required Experience: One year of experience in a health-related field Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others Basic computer skills in word processing and data entry Preferred qualifications include: Preferred Education: Associate degree in biomedical sciences or related field Preferred Experience: Two years of experience in a health-related field, including one year of experience in a hospital pharmacy Preferred Licenses and Certifications: Licensed Pharmacy Technician Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge in the use of prescription balance and basic pharmacy calculations What We Offer As a Veterinary Pharmacy Technician I at Texas A&M University, you will enjoy a competitive salary commensurate with your experience.
