Vice President of Engineering

Reports To: Chief Operating Officer (COO) Location: US, Remote Type: Full-Time Position Summary The Vice President of Engineering will lead the research and development organization responsible for six enterprise SaaS products within a unified product portfolio. This role is central to driving innovation, accelerating feature delivery, and modernizing the architecture across multiple product lines during a period of high growth and operational transformation. In a private-equity–backed environment, the VP of Engineering will prioritize product velocity, roadmap execution, engineering efficiency, and technical quality—supporting value creation while enabling rapid scale. This leader will work closely with DevOps, Product, UX, Customer Success, and executive stakeholders to transform customer and market needs into high-impact solutions, with a strong focus on R&D and modern Agile engineering practices. Key Responsibilities R&D Leadership & Product Innovation • Lead the engineering strategy and execution for six enterprise software products, largely SaaS based • Partner with Product Management to continuously refine R&D priorities, technical requirements, and technical execution at high velocity via an agile framework augmented by project-based 3rd party talent • Drive architectural modernization across products via the retirement of technical debt (e.g., automation, modularization, API-first, Cloud-native approaches) to support product resiliency, development efficiency and quality • Oversee all software development, quality engineering, and architecture functions, with an emphasis on design quality, code excellence, and rapid iteration • Foster a culture of creativity, experimentation, and continuous learning within the engineering organization Multi-Product Portfolio Management • Develop engineering plans, resource models, and technical frameworks that support six distinct yet strategically aligned products • Standardize engineering best practices, design patterns, and operating norms across product teams to improve consistency and efficiency • Prioritize shared services, component reuse, and platform-level capabilities to accelerate delivery across the portfolio • Evaluate technical debt and modernization needs within each product, balancing short-term commitments with long-term product health Execution & Delivery Excellence • Implement robust Agile practices—Scrum, sprint planning, backlog refinement, continuous delivery and cross-team coordination—to improve predictability and roadmap delivery • Establish high-quality SDLC processes including automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, code review practices, and cloud-native deployment/hosting methods • Track and improve key engineering performance metrics such as cycle time, velocity, release frequency, and defect rates • Ensure engineering teams are equipped with the right tools, technologies, and frameworks to deliver quickly and reliably Team Leadership & Organization Development • Build, develop, and mentor a high-performing engineering team across multiple product groups and disciplines • Empower engineering managers and technical leads with clear accountability for product outcomes, quality, and delivery • Reinforce a culture of transparency, ownership, and technical excellence • Report on KPIs by product line and engineering team showing continued improvements in productivity, efficiency and quality quarter over quarter Required Qualifications • 10+ years of progressive engineering management experience, including 5+ years leading multi-team or multi-product R&D organizations within SaaS companies • Strong experience managing multiple product lines simultaneously, ideally in a mid-market or scaled SaaS environment • Deep knowledge of modern Agile development methodologies, software design patterns, and enterprise product development best practices • Hands-on technical background in cloud-native application development (AWS preferred) and modern software architecture • Proven success driving innovation, feature delivery, and R&D transformation in a high-growth setting • Excellent coaching, leadership, and communication skills—able to inspire teams across different product groups and functional roles • Experience leading globally remote and distributed engineering teams An Equal Opportunity Employer - All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
