Vital Records Registration Team Lead (HSC 3) The Division of Disease Control and Health Statistics (DCHS) | PERMANENT APPOINTMENT This is an onsite/in-person position that sits at the DOH Office located in Tumwater, WA. THE OPPORTUNITY: The Department of Health works every day to protect and improve the health of people across Washington State. Within the Center for Health Statistics, this role supports the statewide vital records program that registers and preserves official records of births, deaths, marriages, and divorces. These records shape public health decisions, guide policy, and provide essential services to families and communities. As the Vital Records Registration Team Lead, you will help keep Washington’s vital records systems accurate, reliable, and running smoothly. You will serve as a key technical and program resource for the Washington Health and Life Events System and the Electronic Death Registration System, supporting the professionals who rely on these tools to do critical public health work. While “Preferred Experience” is not required, these skills or experiences can help you stand out as a candidate. • Option 1: Six (6) years of experience in application support, systems administration, technical consulting, or program operations that involved tasks or duties such as supporting users, managing system processes, and coordinating with technical teams. • Option 2 : A bachelor’s degree in public administration, information systems, health informatics, computer science, business administration, or a closely related field, AND two (2) years of experience in application support, systems administration, technical consulting, or program operations that involved tasks or duties such as supporting users, managing system processes, and coordinating with technical teams. Additional Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience: • Experience supporting users and troubleshooting system or application issues to resolution • Experience interpreting policies, rules, or procedures and applying them to business or system processes • Ability to coordinate system testing, validate fixes, and support system releases or updates • Skilled in creating and maintaining clear documentation, procedures, and training materials • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users • Experience working with access controls or system permissions in secure systems • Proficient in using ticketing or issue tracking tools to document and escalate system issues • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook • Skilled in conducting internet and database research Preferred/Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience: • Experience supporting vital records systems, electronic death registration, or similar civil registration systems • Ability to interpret and communicate policies to customers and users. • Knowledge of system testing practices, including developing test cases and scenarios Experience facilitating virtual meetings • Intermediate level experience using SharePoint ABOUT US: The Vital Records Program – Powering public health through trusted vital records.
