VP, Health Economics and Access Strategy

Remote, USA Full-time
Description • Own the global Health Economics & Access Strategy function for HeartFlow, Inc., the company revolutionizing coronary artery disease diagnosis with its AI-driven, non-invasive HeartFlow FFRct Analysis. Reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer, you will architect and execute evidence-generation and market-access strategies that unlock reimbursement, accelerate adoption, and ultimately save millions of lives worldwide. • Design and lead the full lifecycle of health-economics studies—budget-impact, cost-effectiveness, and real-world evidence—that demonstrate the clinical and economic value of HeartFlow’s portfolio to payers, HTA bodies, and hospital administrators across the US, EU, APAC, and emerging markets. You will personally scope study objectives, select appropriate modeling approaches, oversee data collection, and ensure every deliverable withstands rigorous third-party review. • Translate complex HEOR data into persuasive value dossiers, AMCP Format Formulary Submissions, ICER responses, and NICE/EMA/G-BA packages; personally present to national and regional payers to ensure HeartFlow’s value story is clear, compelling, and differentiated. Your storytelling will turn tables of incremental cost-effectiveness ratios into narratives that resonate with both actuaries and clinicians. • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of health economists, outcomes researchers, and market-access managers; foster a culture of scientific rigor, commercial acumen, and patient-centricity while supporting rapid product expansion and pipeline launches. You will define career paths, institute quarterly OKRs, and create a learning environment where PhD-level scientists and MBA-trained strategists thrive together. • Partner with Global Commercial to craft pricing and contracting strategies that maximize revenue while ensuring patient access; develop innovative risk-sharing and outcomes-based agreements that align payer, provider, and HeartFlow incentives. Your models will quantify the financial upside of earlier, more accurate diagnosis and justify premium pricing in increasingly cost-constrained systems. • Serve as the external scientific voice for HeartFlow at ISPOR, ACC, AHA, and other leading conferences; cultivate relationships with KOLs, academic centers, and patient-advocacy groups to strengthen the evidence base and amplify our mission. Expect to deliver podium presentations, moderate policy panels, and publish peer-reviewed manuscripts that shape the global CAD diagnostic paradigm. • Monitor the global reimbursement landscape (CMS, commercial insurers, EU HTA, Asia-Pacific schemes) and proactively identify threats and opportunities; translate policy shifts into actionable strategies that keep HeartFlow ahead of the curve. You will brief the Executive Leadership Team on how proposed CMS National Coverage Determinations or EU HTA regulations could impact revenue trajectories. • Collaborate with Clinical Affairs to ensure every trial protocol incorporates payer-relevant endpoints—resource utilization, quality-of-life, and downstream cost avoidance—so evidence packages are payer-ready from day one. Your early input will prevent costly post-hoc analyses and accelerate time-to-coverage. • Drive cross-functional readiness for new product launches by developing global value propositions, core messaging, and training materials that equip regional teams to secure coverage and formulary placement within 12–18 months of approval. You will run war-room style workshops that align Medical Affairs, Sales, and Regulatory around a single access narrative. • Champion health-equity initiatives, ensuring evidence generation includes diverse patient populations and that access strategies address underserved communities disproportionately affected by coronary artery disease. Your analyses will quantify how early adoption of HeartFlow can reduce disparities in cardiac catheterization rates among women and minority groups. • Establish KPIs and dashboards that track reimbursement milestones, revenue impact, and patient access metrics; present quarterly to the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors, translating technical HEOR insights into strategic business decisions. Your data will directly influence capital allocation and pipeline prioritization. • Manage multi-million-dollar budgets and external vendors (CROs, academic partners, health-economics consultants) with disciplined project management, ensuring deliverables meet the highest scientific and regulatory standards on time and on budget. You will negotiate master service agreements that balance scientific excellence with cost efficiency. Requirements • Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, or MSc) in Health Economics, Outcomes Research, Public Health, or related discipline with 12+ years of progressive HEOR/access leadership in medical device, diagnostics, or biopharma • Proven record of securing positive reimbursement decisions from CMS, commercial payers, NICE, G-BA, HAS, or equivalent HTA bodies through compelling health-economic evidence • Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and scale global teams of 10+ health economists and market-access professionals across multiple geographies • Expert-level proficiency in cost-effectiveness and budget-impact modeling (TreeAge, Excel, R, Python, or similar) with peer-reviewed publications in top-tier journals • Exceptional communication skills—equally comfortable presenting ICER sensitivity analyses to payers and simplifying value stories for sales reps • Authorization to work in the United States; willingness to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally ️ Benefits • Fully remote-first culture with flexible hours and quarterly in-person strategy summits in premier locations • Competitive base salary plus annual performance bonus and long-term equity in a high-growth, pre-IPO digital health leader • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance for you and dependents—100% company-paid premiums • 20 days PTO, 12 company holidays, and a 4-week paid sabbatical every 4 years to recharge and pursue personal passions • Annual professional-development stipend of $7,500 for conferences, courses, and certifications to keep you at the cutting edge of HEOR science Apply tot his job
