WordPress Developer for Farmer's Online Marketplace (Great for New Freelancers)
Are you a passionate WordPress user struggling to land your first jobs on Upwork? Feed the Farmer is seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable freelancer to help build an online marketplace that empowers farmers. This is a perfect opportunity to gain a 5-star review and a unique portfolio piece. About Feed the Farmer Feed the Farmer is transforming into an online marketplace aimed at assisting farmers by enabling them to sell their produce as processed goods (e.g., jams, sauces, dried fruits, baked goods) rather than just raw ingredients. Our mission is to increase farmer profits, reduce waste, and connect them directly with consumers who value high-quality, artisanal food products. Project Scope Duration: 4-6 weeks Commitment: ~10-20 hours per week What We Need Planning & Strategy: Collaborate with me to plan the marketplace structure, user roles (Farmers/Vendors vs. Customers), and product flow. WordPress Development: Set up WordPress and implement a robust marketplace solution (e.g., using a plugin like Dokan, WC Vendors, or WCFM Marketplace alongside WooCommerce). User-Friendly Design: Create a visually appealing and intuitive site where vendors can easily manage their stores and customers can shop seamlessly. Payment & Setup Guidance: Help configure and explain key setup steps for vendor commissions, payment gateways (like Stripe/PayPal), and product listings. Clear Communication: Provide guidance, suggest best practices for marketplace sites, and explain your process throughout. Who We're Looking For You are new to Upwork or have less than 3 completed jobs. You have solid, hands-on experience with WordPress and WooCommerce. Experience or a willingness to learn a marketplace plugin is key. You are eager to build your portfolio and gain a glowing review. You are a clear, patient, and collaborative communicator. A passion for agriculture, e-commerce, or social impact is a great bonus! What You’ll Get A supportive client and a chance to build a complex, meaningful project. A detailed, 5-star review on Upwork to kick-start your profile. A completed project for your portfolio and a testimonial for your website. How to Apply Please send a proposal that includes: A brief note on your WordPress and WooCommerce experience. What excites you about building a marketplace that helps farmers. A link to any previous work or a sample site (if you have one). We strongly encourage new freelancers to apply. I am committed to providing clear feedback and ensuring you succeed on this project.
