Actuarial Manager - Countrywide Indications (Remote)

Summary: We are seeking a strong actuarial leader with exceptional analytical, communication, and pricing skills, along with insurance product management experience for a Product Management role. The position is responsible for developing and continuously improving our pricing indications, expense, and profit allocations as part of the Homeowners Center of Excellence. The candidate will report to the Ratemaking AVP. This position will supervise a team of actuaries and collaborate cross functionally across ratemaking and the broader product management organization in this highly visible, cross functional role. Primary Roles and Responsibilities: • Develop repeatable and technically efficient process for delivering actuarial rate indications by state, program, product, channel, and operating company • Develop and execute roadmap for continuous improvement in indications process which gives the business visibility into upcoming changes and the impact of those changes • Research cutting edge actuarial methodology and incorporate findings in actuarial rate indications to provide accuracy of deliverables • Develop robust process for quantifying and allocating expenses by state, program, product, channel, and operating company • Develop process for capital allocation, considering enterprise exposure to perils and enterprise growth plans Requirements • Relevant Experience: A minimum of 10 years of professional actuarial experience; • Educational Credentials: A bachelor’s degree and FCAS designation is required; • Entrepreneurial Mindset: A self-starter who can identify business opportunities, develop a product plan to capitalize on those opportunities, and successfully implement the plan; • Structured & Logical Thinking: The ability to identify and define business problems and issues, and develop strategic, analytical, and financial frameworks to conduct analyses; • Strong Project Management and Process Improvement: Analyze performance, identify additional areas of further process or technical improvement; superior project management skills • Powerful Communication: The ability to communicate effectively and succinctly and influence others; strong cross functional collaboration • Management Experience: Experience overseeing and leading the work of a group of people • Team Player: The candidate will need to work well both as part of a team and as a team leader; • Technical and Analytical Experience: Expertise in SAS, SQL, R, insurance pricing and filing process, advanced skills in Microsoft Excel is required; Personal Qualifications: The candidate selected for this position will be a creative, out-of-the-box thinker who is intellectually curious with a demonstrated interest in learning, building and motivating teams. This person will also need to be a self-motivated, high-energy individual who can easily function in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment. They must be accustomed to working on multiple tasks in parallel and committed to meeting deadlines, including some with short time frames. This person must have a passion for strategy and continuous improvement in order to find opportunities to streamline processes and tools to get products to market and meet desired profitability and growth outcomes.
