Responsibilities: • Develop and deliver engaging and rigorous curriculum for Advanced Placement (AP) English and History courses, adhering to College Board standards and objectives. • Create dynamic lesson plans that incorporate a variety of instructional methods, such as discussions, lectures, projects, and activities, to foster critical thinking, analysis, and writing skills. • Provide differentiated instruction to address the diverse learning needs and styles of students, including English language learners and students with learning disabilities. • Facilitate in-depth discussions and debates on literary works, historical events, themes, and concepts, encouraging students to analyze and interpret primary and secondary sources critically. • Cultivate a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes academic excellence, respect, collaboration, and cultural understanding. • Integrate technology and digital resources effectively into instruction to enhance learning experiences, including online research, multimedia presentations, and virtual discussions. • Evaluate student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments, such as essays, exams, projects, presentations, and class participation. • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their assignments, performances, and progress, guiding them toward academic growth and success. • Maintain regular communication with students, parents, and colleagues regarding course expectations, assignments, assessments, and student progress. • Stay informed about current trends, developments, and best practices in English and History education, including changes to the AP curriculum, exam formats, and scoring criteria. • Collaborate with fellow educators and staff to align curriculum, share resources, and create interdisciplinary learning opportunities. • Participate in professional development activities, workshops, conferences, and faculty meetings to enhance teaching skills, content knowledge, and instructional effectiveness. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in English, History, Education, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. • Teaching credential or certification preferred. • Demonstrated expertise in both English and History, with a solid understanding of AP curriculum, content, and exam requirements. • Previous teaching experience, especially at the high school level, is preferred. • Passion for teaching and a dedication to fostering student growth, achievement, and success in English and History. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with and inspire students from diverse backgrounds. • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners and accommodate various learning styles. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to effectively manage classroom activities, assessments, and records. • Flexibility to adapt teaching strategies and instructional approaches based on student needs, feedback, and assessment data. • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement as an educator.
