Assistant Professor of Violin - Tenure Track Position in Music Education and Performance

About the Position The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of undergraduate classes, including weekly private lessons, studio performance classes, and chamber music. You will also be expected to participate in departmental, school, and college service, such as music audition days, recruiting, grading juries and recitals, and advising students as needed. Key Responsibilities Teach assigned classes at the undergraduate level, including private lessons, studio performance classes, and chamber music Participate in departmental, school, and college service, including music audition days, recruiting, grading juries and recitals, and advising students as needed Contribute to the development of an inclusive and equitable academic environment that fosters the growth and success of all students Engage in ongoing professional development and performance activities to maintain and enhance your skills as a violinist and educator Qualifications and Requirements To be considered for this position, you must possess a Master's degree in music or a related field, a record of teaching excellence, and evidence of success as a performing artist. Recent ABD doctoral candidates are also encouraged to apply. Essential Qualifications: Master's degree in music or a related field Record of teaching excellence Evidence of success as a performing artist Ability to contribute to the development of an inclusive and equitable academic environment Preferred Qualifications: Doctoral degree in music or a related field Experience teaching in a liberal arts setting Evidence of commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in music education Experience with studio management and class teaching Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will need to possess excellent teaching and communication skills, as well as a strong background in violin performance and pedagogy. You should be able to work effectively with students of varying skill levels and backgrounds, and be committed to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
