Job Summary We are looking for an experienced Associate General Counsel - Global Employment and Compliance to provide expert employment law counsel and drive compliance across our organization. As a hybrid role, you will work from our New York City headquarters 2-3 days a week, with occasional international travel to meet counterparts worldwide or attend conferences. Key Responsibilities Provide expert employment law counsel to senior stakeholders, legal and HR departments, and the wider US organization on employee relations, employee contracts, workers' compensation, and pay compliance. Ensure the organization meets all regulatory requirements, draft and update policies, drive best practices, and provide specialist employment compensation counsel. Confidently provide employment compensation legal advice to varied US stakeholders, providing opinion and guidance on changes to Federal, State, and local wage and hour changes, regulatory and policy matters. Proactively create and update policies, driving best practices and anticipating/identifying legal issues. Advise the Board and leadership team on employment, wage and hour compliance, and changes to regulatory requirements. Foster and develop relationships with stakeholders across the US team, hybrid (2-3 days/week based in NYC, US HQ with occasional international travel). Essential Qualifications Juris Doctor from a US law school. 5+ years of relevant employment law experience in-house, preferably with a non-profit organization. Collaborative approach with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong ability to clearly and confidently provide legal counsel to multiple stakeholders. Experience building and managing relationships with diverse stakeholders, working closely with global support departments and teams in other functions. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with a global organization with diverse HQ and field staff across multiple sites. Familiarity with US employment law, including Federal, State, and local regulations. Experience advising on varied employment, contract, union, and wage compensation matters. Certifications or specialized training in employment law, such as SHRM-CP or HRCI. Skills and Competencies Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a collaborative approach. Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines. Strong business acumen, with an understanding of the organization's mission and goals.
