Associate Geologist / Environmental Scientist
Parsons Corporation is seeking an Associate Geologist / Environmental Scientist to join their team focused on environmental site characterization and remediation. The role involves performing geological and environmental tasks, with a significant amount of fieldwork required, and the opportunity to transition to more office-based work as the career progresses. Responsibilities Perform various field and office tasks requiring the application of standard geological and environmental science principles and theories Conduct soil, surface water, groundwater, sediment, and other environmental sampling Soil classification and sampling during drilling, test pitting, and excavation activities Assist with supervision of drillers and other subcontractors Execute field projects with health and safety as the top priority Complete field documentation such as activity hazard analysis (AHA) forms, project field reports, field notes, sampling records, and chain-of-custody forms Assist in geologic and environmental analyses and interpretation, which may include hydrogeology and/or geochemistry Analyze and interpret environmental sample analysis results within the context of the geological setting Prepare figures of environmental data, potentiometric surface maps, geologic maps, and cross sections Develop materials and assist in completing reports on finished field work May provide technical guidance to lower-level geologists or environmental scientists Work with project managers, using interpersonal and organizational skills, to ensure projects are completed on time and budget Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate Skills Bachelor's Degree in Geology or related field and typically 0+ years of related work experience A familiarity with related environmental rules and regulations is preferred Ability to work in a hybrid work arrangement. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Parsons office (Denver area), virtual office at your own home, and project locations throughout Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, California, and potentially other states.
