For a list of acceptable documentation, follow this link: Notice of Vacancy Number ST2500223 Job Title Cataloging and Metadata Services Student Assistant - Advanced Job Category Regular Student Job Job Type Regular Student Jobs Position Class Code 82100 - Student - Unrestricted Student Pay Grade 999 Hourly Wage/Salary 11.65 Job Summary/Basic Function Maintain bibliographic records, access points, and holdings information, interpret and modify data in online records; search for catalog records in online bibliographic utilities; assist staff with sorting/arranging items to be cataloged, retrieval and delivery of items from or to bookshelves or to another library department; other duties as assigned. Specific Responsibilities Work Schedule 8am - 4:30pm as schedule will allow, 20 hrs. Desired Start Date 09/22/2025 Open Date 09/09/2025 Close Date 10/09/2025 Required Relevant Education & Experience High School diploma or GED Required Field(s) of Study N/A Preferred Relevant Education and Experience Requires excellent critical thinking skills, thoroughness, accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions precisely. Familiarity with computers is essential. Previous library and Sierra, or OCLC experience is desirable. Must be able to push carts loaded with books weighing at least 75 to 100 pounds. Job Duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Maintain bibliographic records, access points, and holding information, interpret and modify data in online records. • Search for catalog records in online bibliographic utilities and import them into the Sierra online database. • Perform copy cataloging and updating of bibliographic records for a variety of materials, including monographs and serials. • Create new records or update existing ones for periodicals, serials, and other materials. This may include entering bibliographic information, assigning subject headings, and creating item records. • Process and label periodicals, serials, and item containers. • Assist staff members with various tasks which could include, but are not limited to, filing, sorting, and maintaining records, entering data into spreadsheets, sorting and arranging items to be cataloged, assist in the withdrawal of deselected items from the collection, and retrieval and delivery of items from or to the stacks or to another department. • This position will be asked to assist with projects in other areas of the Technical Services Department, which include Acquisitions, Government Documents, InterLibrary Loan and Processing. • Other duties as assigned.
