About the position As the Byrdie Commerce Writer on the evergreen team, you will be responsible for helping to create and maintain the beauty and fashion content on the site. Your primary responsibility will be to write and update the “best of” roundups for our evergreen commerce library with a focus on product testing done in our NYC lab and by our editors and remote testing collective. You will also occasionally help contribute to timely sales and news-based content during shopping tentpole events i.e., Black Friday. Responsibilities • Write/update 10-12+ beauty and fashion stories per month • Participate in product testing in our New York City lab and at home • Help provide feedback on product lists and methodologies for upcoming product tests • Analyze insights and results after a test to select the best products to recommend • Pitch new keywords and quick-turn stories optimized for Discover, and brainstorm other commerce concepts for the vertical • Work in conjunction with editors on the team to strategize long-term on how to target seasonal and high-priority articles at their peak times • Collaborate with the beat editors, editorial, growth, and social teams to optimize our content for our readers and search • Assist our News & Deals team during peak holiday shopping events, as needed Requirements • Bachelor's degree; preferably in Journalism or Communications, or equivalent experience • 2+ years of writing or editing experience at an online publisher, ideally in the beauty & style space • Strong writing, research, and self-editing skills • Proficient in content management systems and data tracking software such as Looker and Parse.ly • Mastery of written English and ability to edit stories based on style guides, with SEO top of mind • The ability to use data to identify topics of interest to a broad audience • Proactive, flexible team player who's able to meet deadlines and work in a fast-moving environment • Strong knowledge of the beauty and fashion landscape, including product launches, trends, and use of products in practice • Outstanding organizational skills and innate ability to pay attention to detail • The ability to work quickly, efficiently, and independently, and collaborate with both remote workers and editorial team members in-office • Passion for testing beauty products Benefits • Medical, dental, vision, prescription drug coverage • Unlimited paid time off (PTO) • Adoption or surrogate assistance • Donation matching • Tuition reimbursement • Basic life insurance • Basic accidental death & dismemberment • Supplemental life insurance • Supplemental accident insurance • Commuter benefits • Short term and long term disability • Health savings and flexible spending accounts • Family care benefits • Generous 401K savings plan with a company match program • 10-12 paid holidays annually • Generous paid parental leave (birthing and non-birthing parents) • Voluntary benefits such as pet insurance, accident, critical and hospital indemnity health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance Apply tot his job
