What we are looking for… We are looking for an experienced Controller with a deep understanding of financial and managerial accounting that will be responsible for managing all accounting operations. The ideal candidate will be a thoughtful, detail-oriented person looking to build and implement a scalable and efficient department structure. This person will develop internal control policies and procedures as needed. This role will provide you with the unique opportunity to work with the head of each division on a regular basis. More importantly, you will do so in a fun and creative environment where everyone’s voice is heard. What you’ll do… Manage all aspects of accounting; financial reporting, general ledger, accounts receivable, tax compliance, payroll, property-management accounting, revenue recognition, and various special projects Oversee the monthly accounting close process ensuring accounts are reconciled and GL data is accurate Maintain documented system of accounting policies and operations Oversee payments for all corporate and property-level expenses; ensuring all accounts are paid on time Cash flow management Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports Support FP&A with the development of budgets and forecasts for all departments and markets Organize information and statements in support of external audits Lead the constant evolution of accounting operations, identifying areas of improvement, offering recommendations, and implementing new processes Define, benchmark and implement operational best practices Comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, payroll, and reporting Ensure the company complies with all additional legal and regulatory requirements Requirements Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting Masters in business or accounting, CPA or CA, preferred but not required A minimum of 5+ years of management experience in accounting A minimum of 2-5 years of hospitality / real estate experience preferred but not required Proficiency with accounting software and experience with software system implementation (experience in NetSuite preferred) Exceptional knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Able to work well with senior executives and team, as well as mentor/lead other team members Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations Benefits Annual salary range $125,000-175,000 Annual performance bonus Equity Generous company-sponsored insurance (medical, dental, vision, life, etc.) Flexible paid time off Complimentary and discounted stays at AvantStay properties Pre-tax retirement savings plans offered via Betterment Paid parental leave Fitness reimbursement Remote work reimbursement When you join AvantStay You’ll be doing work that matters alongside an experienced and dynamic team, transforming the way people travel and vacation.
