We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Clinical Coordinator to join our Clinical Services team, where your expertise will play a crucial role in the organ donation process. What You’ll Be Doing: As a Clinical Coordinator, you will manage the entire organ donation process, from initial donor assessment to organ recovery. You’ll work both remotely and on-site at donor hospitals across Nebraska, collaborating with hospital staff to optimize donor management and ensure every opportunity for organ donation is maximized. Key Responsibilities Referral Management: • Receive and evaluate organ donor referrals from across Nebraska. • Conduct initial phone screenings with hospital personnel to assess donor potential. • Perform on-site assessments to determine donor suitability, educating hospital staff on organ donation procedures. Donor Management: • Collaborate with hospital staff to manage medical care that supports organ donation, from referral through authorization. • Coordinate and oversee diagnostic procedures such as EKG, Echo, and CT scans. • Ensure all documentation is thorough and compliant with regulatory standards, managing it in the internal EMR system. Pre-Organ Recovery: • Lead allocation huddles, ensuring clear communication among the team. • Coordinate logistics for surgeon travel, including airport transfers and on-site support. • Supervise the collection and labeling of blood samples, maintaining meticulous records throughout the pre-recovery phase. Organ Recovery: • Oversee the recovery process, ensuring all organs are accurately documented and prepared for transport. • Conduct post-recovery debriefings with the team to discuss outcomes and plan future steps. • Ensure surgeons sign off on all recovered organs and that all necessary documentation is complete and accurate. Additional Responsibilities: • Participate in daily briefings to update on patient and family status and strategize communication with families. • Perform daily diagnostic tests to assess organ suitability for transplantation, reporting findings to the medical director and on-call organ associate. • Stay current with all test results and culture updates to ensure the latest information is available for decision-making. • Keep precise records for billing and documentation purposes, starting from the declaration of brain death. What you’ll bring: • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN), Respiratory Therapist (RT), or prior clinical experience in an OPO. • Critical care or emergency care experience required. • ACLS, PALS, and BLS certifications (or ability to obtain). • Familiarity with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, Meditech) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. • Strong organizational, critical thinking, and communication skills, with the ability to work under pressure. Schedule: • Minimum of 24, 12-hour call shifts over a 2-month period on a flexible schedule. • Day/Night rotations on an average of every 2 months to stratify experience levels on shift and meet the needs of the team. • * Training may require more travel and call shifts to gain proper experience. ** Live On Nebraska offers our team members a comprehensive and competitive benefits package.
