The California Department of Justice is seeking an entry-level Docketing Technician to join their Legal Support Operations team. The role involves maintaining legal case dockets, reviewing incoming legal documents, and communicating with various legal and departmental staff. Responsibilities Perform duties in the maintenance of the statutorily required legal case docket of the Office of the Attorney General Use a variety of hardware and software, electronic case management system as well as paper-based filing and archival systems, to maintain the records of case-related documents for civil and criminal docketed cases throughout the life cycle of the cases/records, pursuant to the legal divisions' records retention schedules Directly and independently review a wide variety of daily incoming legal documents Communicate regularly with legal and secretarial staff, other departmental staff, court clerks, and opposing counsel to exchange and obtain information regarding docketing of cases Skills Ability to lift and move boxes weighing up to 40 lbs Ability to perform duties of a complex and responsible nature Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative and independence in performing assigned tasks Ability to directly and independently review a wide variety of daily incoming legal documents Ability to communicate regularly with legal and secretarial staff, other departmental staff, court clerks, and opposing counsel Benefits Work-life balance 11 paid holidays Flexible paid leave options Consistent wage increases Pension retirement Job stability Health/Dental/Vision Insurance Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) and more!
