We're seeking a compassionate and experienced Elementary School Tutor to join our team, focusing on early literacy development in kindergarten through fourth-grade students. Job Summary As an Elementary School Tutor, you'll play a vital role in delivering supplemental literacy practice to small groups of students using our prescribed literacy program. This is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on young learners, working closely with our talented team of educators and tutors. Key Responsibilities * Conduct small group and one-on-one tutoring sessions with students using literacy materials provided by DECA PREP * Help children improve their reading skills and abilities to reach grade-level expectations * Build strong relationships with students, communicating effectively and sensitively * Regularly review student data to assess the effectiveness of literacy interventions and adjust strategies as needed * Establish and maintain effective communication with parents, teachers, tutors, and building leadership to ensure program success * Act on feedback and coaching from Instructional Coaches, Classroom Teachers, and Building Administrators * Ensure confidentiality of all student records and diagnostic scores * Assess student progress through progress monitoring and benchmarking * Document student progress scores and interventions using an online database system * Demonstrate a positive, supportive, enthusiastic, and encouraging attitude with all students and staff Essential Qualifications * Valid Ohio teaching license or certification * Strong interest in education, specifically helping young children develop early literacy skills * Effective interpersonal skills with children and adults * Ability to support students as individual learners * Sound student and classroom management skills * Experience with technology integration in teaching and learning processes * Effective in an interdisciplinary, team environment Preferred Qualifications * Experience working with students in kindergarten through fourth-grade levels * Familiarity with literacy programs and curriculum design * Strong organizational and time management skills * Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities Skills and Competencies * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Strong problem-solving and adaptability skills * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to student learning and achievement * Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships at all levels of the organization Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At DECA, we're committed to supporting the professional growth and development of our team members.
