Position: Energy Analyst/Senior Energy Analyst (Market Intelligence) Energy Analyst / Senior Energy Analyst – Market Intelligence Company: Ascend Analytics Join to apply for the Energy Analyst/Senior Energy Analyst (Market Intelligence) role at Ascend Analytics. Remote work is possible for a highly experienced candidate and visa sponsorship is not available. Overview As part of the Ascend Team, you will support leading‑edge decision analysis for energy project development & operations through the modeling of short and long‑term power market fundamentals. We seek industry expertise, a fresh perspective, and a strong background in power economics, finance, or engineering. Key Responsibilities • Lead forecast development for one of the seven US ISOs and produce supporting work products. • Lead quantitative analysis and deliver on‑time results to clients. • Provide expertise in analytic modeling for revenue forecasts, asset valuation, risk management, and renewable integration. • Devise new approaches to represent results that support decision analysis. • Assimilate complex information into clear reports and presentations. • Perform in‑depth analysis of power market operations. • Solve complex analytic problems to inform mission‑critical decisions and serve as the go‑to resource for clients. • Act as a technical resource for scoping, building, deploying, and launching Ascend’s software products. Required Education, Skills & Experience • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (economics, engineering or energy preferred). • 1+ years of prior experience in a power or electricity focused role (3+ years for Senior Analyst). • Familiar with the energy industry and understanding of its physical and financial structures. • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with complex data. • Demonstrated track record of working with clients and teams. • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication, teamwork, and organizational skills. • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and work with minimal supervision. Preferred Education, Skills & Experience • Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field (economics, engineering or energy). • Proficiency with analytic software programming (R, Python, etc.). • Command of wholesale power market structures and value streams. • Knowledge of deregulated power market operations and/or DER programs. • Experience with power modeling software (PROMOD, PLEXOS, Aurora, PSSE, PSO). Compensation $80,000 – $95,000 – Energy Analyst $95,000 – $125,000 – Senior Analyst Negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
