About the Role of an Academic Tutor and Mentor We are seeking energetic and engaging tutors who are content experts in their academic field of study and kind mentors who can support their students holistically. As an Academic Tutor and Mentor, you will primarily work with students in person, 1-on-1, tutoring them in high school math and science, mostly at the AP level. We prioritize the holistic development of each of our students, and our tutors play a vital role in helping them achieve their academic goals. Key Responsibilities Provide 1-on-1 tutoring to students in high school math and science, including AP level courses Develop and implement personalized learning plans to support each student's unique needs and goals Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a collaborative and supportive learning environment Stay up-to-date with curriculum developments and best practices in tutoring and mentoring Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge Essential Qualifications 2+ years of direct experience in 1-on-1 tutoring in math and science, including AP level courses Bachelor's degree in a relevant field Availability to tutor during weekdays (usually after 3 PM) and/or weekends Reliable internet access for video conferencing and online communication Strong communication and interpersonal skills Preferred Qualifications College-level tutoring experience and a willingness to train to tutor the SAT/ACT Experience working with students with learning differences Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and student needs Strong organizational and time management skills Skills and Competencies Required for Success To be successful as an Academic Tutor and Mentor, you will need to possess a range of skills and competencies, including: Content expertise : A deep understanding of math and science concepts, including AP level courses Communication skills : The ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner Interpersonal skills : The ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues Organizational skills : The ability to manage multiple students, schedules, and learning plans Adaptability : The ability to adapt to changing student needs, schedules, and curriculum developments Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At ESM Prep, we are committed to supporting the professional growth and development of our tutors.
