Key Responsibilities Provide direct instruction to adults learning English as a Second Language in level 4 online class, using communicative and cooperative teaching strategies to promote student engagement and learning Develop and implement lesson plans, conduct ongoing assessments, and monitor student attendance to ensure students are meeting their academic goals Collaborate with other staff members, including teachers, administrators, and support staff, to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment Attend staff meetings, participate in professional development opportunities, and stay current with best practices in ESL instruction and curriculum development Keep accurate and detailed student records, including progress reports, attendance records, and assessment results Support volunteers and provide guidance and supervision as needed Integrate technology into instruction, using digital tools and resources to enhance student learning and engagement Implement the CCRS/ACES/NorthStar standards, ensuring that instruction is aligned with state and national standards for adult education Essential Qualifications Current MN Teaching License, or ABE License, or Master's degree in ESL, applied linguistics, or bilingual education Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with students, staff, and community members Ability to be flexible and function well in a busy environment, with a strong sense of adaptability and resilience Ability to work as a team member, collaborating with colleagues to achieve common goals and promote a positive and inclusive school culture Computer skills required, with experience using digital tools and resources to support instruction and student learning Must be physically working in the building/onsite, with a strong commitment to being present and engaged in the learning environment Preferred Qualifications Experience working with diverse populations, including adults with varying levels of English proficiency and cultural backgrounds Experience in an adult ESL academic program, with a strong understanding of the unique needs and challenges of adult learners Experience teaching low literate adults, with a commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment Experience and ease in working with computers, with a strong ability to integrate technology into instruction and student learning Experience using cooperative teaching strategies during instruction, with a focus on promoting student engagement, participation, and collaboration Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Anoka-Hennepin School District, we are committed to supporting the professional growth and development of our staff.
