About the Role As a Long-Term Substitute Science Teacher for Grade 6, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in science, creating engaging lesson plans, and assessing student progress. You will work collaboratively with our team of educators to ensure that our students receive a comprehensive and well-rounded education. Key Responsibilities: Demonstrate facility in the skills of reading, writing, and mathematics Plan instruction to achieve selected objectives and effectively implement instructional plans Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues Help students develop positive self-concepts and facilitate their independence as learners Effectively organize time, space, materials, and equipment for instruction Assess student needs and progress, and establish a positive learning environment Meet professional responsibilities and encourage cooperative involvement with parents and the community Qualifications and Requirements To be considered for this role, you must possess a valid Connecticut teacher certificate in Science (High School: 030-Biology, 7-12; 031-Chemistry, 7-12; 032-Physics, 7-12; 033-Earth Science, 7-12; 034-General Science, 7-12; as appropriate) or Middle School (006 Gr. 4-8 or 230, Biology MS, 231 chemistry MS, 232 Physics, MS, 233 Earth science, MS, 234 Genl Science MS, 235 Integrated Science, MS). You should also demonstrate excellence in teaching the subject area(s) and/or instructional levels targeted, as well as evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers, and educational assistants. Essential Qualifications: A valid Connecticut teacher certificate in Science Demonstrated excellence in teaching the subject area(s) and/or instructional levels targeted Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers, and educational assistants Superior communication skills (oral and written) Knowledge of and/or demonstrate the ability to learn and implement relevant technology Preferred Qualifications: Dual certification in TESOL, Bilingual Education, or ESL Experience in Sheltered Instruction or fluency in a language other than English Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities Familiarity with Operating Systems, Office suites, Presentation Software, Spreadsheets, and Communication and Collaboration tools What We Offer In return for your dedication and hard work, we offer a competitive salary of $155 per day for certified candidates and $105 per day for non-certified candidates (with the potential to increase to $155 per day after 30 days).
