About the Role We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Bilingual Educational Assistant to join our team of dedicated professionals. As a Bilingual Educational Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and personal needs of our students with special needs. You will work closely with our certified teachers to develop and implement individualized instructional plans, provide academic support, and assist with daily care needs. Key Responsibilities Carry out written and/or verbal instructional plans provided by the certified teacher to support student learning and academic achievement Assist with academic and learning activities, including tutoring, note-taking, modeling, mentoring, duplicating, grading, and constructing materials Provide support with control of students through interaction and supervision as directed by the certified teacher Assist with non-instructional activities, such as providing daily and emergency personal care needs of students, including wheel chair movement and positioning, toileting, feeding, and other activities as appropriate Maintain confidentiality regarding students' academic and social/behavioral performance and demonstrate a professional attitude about the position Work effectively and tactfully with staff, parents, students, and administrators to present information and provide support Maintain composure under stressful conditions and perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies Essential Qualifications Must have at least 60 semester hours of college credit or pass an approved paraprofessional test Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, in more than one language Must demonstrate a patient and receptive attitude toward children with special needs Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively as a member of the team Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding students' academic and social/behavioral performance Preferred Qualifications Experience working with students with special needs Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques to support student learning Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including students, staff, and parents Skills and Competencies Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively Patience, empathy, and understanding when working with students with special needs Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Collinsville Community Unit School District, we are committed to supporting the professional growth and development of our staff.
