About the Role As a Building Structural Technologist at McElhanney, you will play a crucial role in the design, drafting, and delivery of structural engineering projects across British Columbia and Alberta. You will work closely with structural engineers, technicians, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of projects. This is a unique chance to leverage your technical expertise, creativity, and problem-solving skills to drive excellence in the field. Key Responsibilities Detailed design and drafting of steel, concrete, wood, and masonry structures, including connections and reinforcement details for a variety of structural engineering projects. Carrying out field reviews and site supervision to ensure compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, architects, and clients, to ensure seamless project delivery. Assisting in improving AutoCAD and Revit standards for structural drafting, and contributing to the development of best practices. Mentoring junior staff members and providing guidance on technical matters and industry best practices. Participating in proposal preparation and contributing to business development initiatives. Essential Qualifications Diploma of Technology or Certificate from a nationally accredited program in a relevant field, or equivalent experience. 5 or more years of experience in structural design and drafting, with a strong understanding of national and provincial building codes and standards. Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, with a strong preference for candidates with Revit experience. Registration as a CTech or AScT with ASTTBC, or eligibility to be registered, is considered an asset. Excellent attention to detail, with a drive for excellence and a commitment to delivering high-quality work. Effective verbal and written communication skills, with a positive and team-oriented attitude. Preferred Qualifications Project management experience, with a proven track record of managing multiple projects and priorities. Experience with a range of structural engineering software and tools, including but not limited to Revit, AutoCAD, and Tekla. A strong understanding of industry best practices and a commitment to staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the field. Key competencies include: Technical expertise in structural design and drafting, with a strong understanding of relevant codes and standards. Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, with the ability to learn new software and tools as required.
