As a Business Data Scientist, you will play a critical role in supporting YouTube's decision-making processes by translating business questions into data-driven insights and communicating findings to non-technical audiences. About the YouTube Business Strategy and Operations Team The YouTube Business Strategy and Operations team is responsible for driving go-to-market capabilities for the YouTube Business Organization, including strategy, business operations, analytics, and data science. The team shapes go-to-market priorities to accelerate growth, improves capabilities and competencies to support business execution, drives performance across business operations, and builds robust go-to-market infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Design and lead causal research with the clear goal of answering business questions, and present actionable insights and recommendations to executives, business leaders, and cross-functional partners. Serve as a peer-reviewer and representative for causal research designed by other teams, ensuring the highest quality and integrity of research. Stay updated with advances in the causal inference literature, and develop new methods when appropriate to drive innovation and improvement. Collaborate with stakeholders to articulate business and product questions, and pull data from datasets using SQL and statistical tools. Communicate complex data insights to non-technical audiences, being clear about uncertainty and assumptions used in analysis. Minimum Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must have: A Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Applied Data, Machine Learning, or equivalent practical experience. Experience articulating business and product questions, and pulling data from datasets using SQL and statistical tools (e.g., R, SAS, Stata, MATLAB, etc.). Internship or experience with data evaluation, demonstrating a strong understanding of data analysis principles and practices. Preferred Qualifications To stand out as a candidate, you should have: Experience with Bayesian hierarchical models, Bayesian Additive Regression Trees (BART), Bayesian Causal Forest (BCF), Gaussian Processes, and Synthetic Control techniques. Experience designing and studying randomized controlled trials, and causal research using observational data. Experience with statistical data evaluation, including linear models, multivariate analysis, stochastic models, and sampling techniques. A strong understanding of causal inference literature and methods, with the ability to develop new methods when appropriate. Compensation and Benefits The US base salary range for this full-time role is $124,000-$182,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
