Job Overview In this critical role, you will be responsible for verifying and documenting new patient insurance coverage, coordinating supply costs, and communicating with patients and billing teams. You will also re-verify existing patient insurance coverage, contact insurance carriers for prior authorizations, and maintain knowledge of medical terminology, billing, and insurance guidelines. Key Responsibilities Verify and document new patient insurance coverage and coordinate supply costs to communicate to patients and billing Re-verify existing patient insurance coverage to ensure repeat order cost and eligibility is communicated Contact insurance carriers to request prior authorizations as needed Verify insurance coverage via HIPAA-compliant outbound phone calls or provider online portals Communicate with internal Sales Operations and Medical Billing teams regarding insurance eligibility Communicate with patients to explain insurance benefits and how they relate to medical supply purchases Maintain knowledge of medical terminology, billing, and insurance guidelines Track daily production and submit logs to supervisor Requirements and Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to have a minimum of 1 year of medical industry or call center/customer service experience, with insurance verification experience strongly preferred. You should be able to read, analyze, and interpret medical supply publications, procedures, and training materials, and possess strong communication and customer service skills. Additionally, you will need to be able to meet production and quality standards, including completing one insurance verification every 9-11 minutes on average with an error rate of 3.5% or less. Essential Qualifications Minimum 1 year of medical industry or call center/customer service experience Insurance verification experience strongly preferred Ability to read, analyze, and interpret medical supply publications, procedures, and training materials Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to meet production and quality standards Preferred Qualifications Related experience and/or training in medical terminology, billing, and insurance guidelines Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Education and Training A High School Diploma or GED is required, with one to two years of related experience and/or training preferred. You should be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of medical terminology, billing, and insurance guidelines, and be able to apply this knowledge in a practical setting.
