**Experienced Customer Service Representative – Utility and Billing Support**

As a Customer Service Representative, you'll be the face of our organization, interacting with customers via phone, email, and in-person to resolve their inquiries, address their concerns, and provide solutions to their problems. **About blithequark** blithequark is a leading provider of utility and billing services to the City of Denton and its residents. We're proud of our inclusive, collaborative, and service-oriented culture, and we're committed to making a positive impact in our community. **Key Responsibilities** As a Customer Service Representative, you'll be responsible for: * Handling heavy phone traffic for departments Citywide, responding to customer inquiries, and resolving their issues in a friendly and professional manner * Providing routine office duties, including phone, electronic, and face-to-face support to customers, directing internal and external customers, processing drop box payments, posting payments, and handling incoming and outgoing mail * Assisting with interdepartmental cash and reporting/tracking functions, processing internal and external customer requests, and maintaining accurate records and updating personal data on accounts * Receiving, maintaining, and accounting for monies for utilities, providing payment receipts, and ensuring compliance with blithequark's internal cash handling policies * Processing commercial account set-ups, validating Tax IDs, explaining available solid waste services, calculating associated costs, and completing service contracts * Generating and processing solid waste work orders, maintaining and filing contracts in an organized manner, and processing water leak adjustment and leak check requests * Assisting with projects, performing back-office assignments, and serving as a backup to Customer Service Rep II in their absence **Essential Qualifications** To be successful in this role, you'll need: * A High School diploma or equivalent * One (1) year of customer service experience * Six (6) months of cash handling experience * Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job **Preferred Qualifications** While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: * Experience working in a utility or billing environment * Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, as well as blithequark's policies and procedures * Skill in identifying moderate problems and implementing solutions * Intermediate-level proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and other software systems * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, colleagues, and management **Skills and Competencies** To succeed in this role, you'll need to possess: * Strong customer service skills, with the ability to provide exceptional service to internal and external customers * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, colleagues, and management * Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships * Flexibility and adaptability to changing work environments and priorities * Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment * Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, and reports * Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion **Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits** At blithequark, we're committed to helping our employees grow and develop their skills and careers.
