Job Overview The Data Entry Specialist role is a part-time position within our Data and Analysis team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy of sports data on our platforms. This includes scores, schedules, standings, rankings, and other relevant information. As a Data Entry Specialist, you will work with digital data feeds and utilize manual data entry to guarantee the delivery of accurate, timely, and engaging sports information. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to transforming data into compelling storylines, identifying statistical events that help explain why a team won or lost. Key Responsibilities Guarantee sports data distributed by our team is accurate, timely, and engaging Work in individual settings and in groups to deliver accurate detailed breakdown, clock-and-score, and different measurements and data in real-time that power our products and creations Create and maintain a working knowledge of our team's role in fueling blithequark's digital products and television creations Check the results of one's own work and that of others; perform with a consistently high level of attention to detail Contribute to production, projects, and initiatives across the newsroom, and support newsroom leaders who are coordinating full-and part-time staff Anticipate potential issues, both daily and long-term, and propose likely solutions; communicate rapidly and clearly with stakeholders on these issues Play a proactive role in working with stakeholders in developing or refining production processes Be an active participant in team and department meetings Seek and respond to feedback regarding individual performance Stay informed regarding current office policies and procedures Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: Working knowledge of teams, players, and the rules of the games Full schedule availability, which will include evenings, weekends, and holidays Ability to quickly learn production processes that produce or maintain sports data that powers blithequark's digital and television products Ability to achieve a high level of content accuracy in time-sensitive production circumstances Ability to communicate confidently – verbally and in writing – to production managers and peers about production issues and opportunities, often through the noise of a busy newsroom Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: 1+ years of experience working in sports or statistics, ideally in media Knowledge of how sports data is used in media and for research purposes Working knowledge of blithequark products and creations Experience with Microsoft Excel and other Office products Experience leading or mentoring a team Ability to speak and write Spanish Experience using social media in a business or news environment Education The minimum education required for this role is a high school diploma or equivalent.
